Oh, and sometimes when you claim it is a "fail," they are just playing different notes that are in the right key signature, so they would be a harmony or something if the melody was played with them. They are playing different parts of the chord. I don't consider that a fail. I actually think that's pretty awesome. (such as Brian's solo at 8:40)
