Katie Couric is such a damn cornball, typically trying to drain each drop of emotional drama out of this story. Sully's not having any of it... he's just telling it like it is and that's been his stance from the very beginning. Good on ya Sully!! i love this guy, i bought his book, but his wife is an ass..i think sully IS a real Hero, hero's step up to the plate and HERO's dont fuck things up...no matter what, he is a real hero a real one...this man saved 155 people and should be remembered forever

The whole incident lasted only 3 and a half minutes.... not enough time to enable the ditch switch, also they had to go through and engine failure check list first and they would have to go through a ditch switch check list prior to enabling it, its not like you can just flick a switch.... not trying to be a smart ass , I'm no aviation expert... just saw this on tv about flight 1549 and ditch switches called why planes crash

I love this story, but fancy asking him if there was anyone on the planet better equiped to deal with the situation. I fly for a living, and would like to think that allmy Capt's and the majority around the world would have made the same descision with close to the same outcome. @theEMDman3798; Hopefully, with the shameful conditions experienced pilots are facing while their positions have been replaced with "300 hour wonders" (along with their $150,000. student loans balances, $20,000./yr. starting salaries, all while working part time jobs at the local Jack In The Box to make ends meet!), aviation will change for the better.

Contrast Capt. Sully & his crew with Colgan 3407's demise; 49 deaths caused by inexperience, incompetence, and non-existent cockpit discipline.
