lashiec used to kick my ass all the time, but once i started playing defensive spells, like deban, i was ok. that another gate & thunder bolt will kick anyone's ass though...
Damn it... I remember when I played this game I couldn't get past this boss... he just pwned me again and again, all I could do was heal myself and barely attack, and I was no low-level. Now seeing how easily you beat him someday I might try again because this game is just awesome...
I loved how they did little nods to the series as a whole in four, like the return of Lashic/Lassic from the orginal, having to battle three Dark forces or Battling Dark force three times if you prefer, one for each previous game and two of the forms look similar to too the ones in Pantasy stars 1 and 2, the form in the final battle/fight 3 looks like Dark Falz in PS 1, and the first form/first encounter resembeles the Dark force in PS 2
Man, I remember when I was a kid (in the first year this game came out when it was like $100 hahaha) and it took me months to beat this guy...these days, he's not that hard (I guess because I actually took time to build up my characters and not rush through the story...lol)
Yea rps were great back in the old days, phantasy star was a great series (not after 4). Anyhoo there are some good ones out there after the 16 bit era. Have you guys played Suikoden 2? Or how about Wild Arms? Both I have found are original and are fun to play. But lol my favorite video game character definitely has to be Rune Walsh.
Classic games will never die, classic games kicks todays games in the BALLZ. Doesnt even stand a chance. Games had so much heart back then its crazy, now its all about greens(MONEY). Theses are the games. Todays games are Complete JUNK what we had back then, only few games now that are even good.
I couldn't agree more. RPG's used to be like reading a good book. The ones today are more like anime movies. If you take all the snazzy cut scenes away you'd have like a 30 minute game.
And don't even get me started on these mmorpg nightmares. They shouldn't even be considered RPG's, they're just hacker/slasher/button mashing games with some RPG elements.
There's no variety anymore either. Everything is a damn FPS. Have they just run out of ideas or what?
Zomg!! PS4 has to be my all time favorite of the PS series. I remember going through that hellish castle just trying to get to this guy and then having my ass handed over to me on a silver platter. This boss theme is so nostalgic ...
It's strange because my uncle bought it for $100 shortly before the game was actually released, and in that version his name WAS "Lassic," not "Lashiec..." and until recently I never noticed there was a change 'til I fought him again in the PSP Sega Genesis Collection (which I saved this fight because of memories...he used to be SO HARD to beat...still is lol)
Phantasy Star IV was just perfect, the sound, the music, the battle system, the gameplay, the graphics, the animations, the story, well, everything in this game is just fantastic. I have played through the whole game like 20 times+ now and I still can play it. It is just amazing. I wish that I will atleast play a Phantasy Star IV remake(in english) b4 I leave this world T.T :( comon SEGA
Hmm. I have to think about that. I also played Final Fantasy 6/3 and Chrono Trigger. So PS4 has tough competition from my personal experience. I still can't believe in '93 it was worth $100 bucks!
RPG's were better during the 2D era. They focused more on things like gameplay and battle system than graphics and lengthy anime cut scenes. The 16 bit era was the golden age of RPG's. FF7 is the only RPG I really liked since then.
Like many things, they don't make em like they used to.
They don't HAVE to do another Phantasy Star game, but it would be nice for them to do a sci-fi game with perhaps some connection to Algol (and perhaps other areas of the universe/galaxy) Honestly... Anything would be nice.
Or if SEGA does have to do one, they could do one set in an AU where Profound Darkness manages to break loose, maybe?
Nowadays, what've we got for sci-fi RPGs, Knights of the Old Republic? Huh? =/
Lashiec is actually pretty easy if Rika is at a high enough level to have GiSar. I've always had more trouble with the Xe-A-Thouls earlier on in the castle.
That's true. Lassic, how his name appeared in the original PS, was a mistranslation. Still I grew up knowing him as Lassic so he's still Lassic to me.
That guy, Lashiec was a total bastard when i first played Phanatsy Star IV, but thanks to some sage advice from a guide book i bought days after i got the game, i managed to thrash that undead freak. BTW: Very unique macros you made for that team, Bravo!
i've never set up 'healing' macros since you can't designate a target for single-character healing items/spells, but it seems like you were able to do that, sort of...?
is it just that at such a low level, you knew there would be turns where everyone had to heal, or does the CPU have like, set rules for desginating targets for stuff like items?
i never got the chance to play this game, i only played the 1st 2nd and 3rd PS titles, but how come "Lashiec" returns? Alis killed him in the first game?.
I remember my friends telling me how hard Lashiec was. After I beat him, I said that he wasn't too bad. Later, I revealed I was over level 45. Anyhow, great video, brings back great memories of this classic
Nice Job. I know fighting him that low made all your chars jump up a few levels... except Rune perhaps. He's always the last one to hit level 99. Anyway nice fight. I love leveling until I'm death incarnate and just start unloading "Grandcross" on his ass every round.
I thought it was awesome that they put him in PS4 I like how they tied every classic PS game into this one
