this was an overlooked nintendo classic. good job on the video,but you should consider changing your name.nothing wrong with imitation but copying is just not cool. and you didnt cover enough of the game either.

uhhhh... yeah... this wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. some of your shit falls flat but the shop owner gag was pretty good. having expensive items at the beginning of the game actually works in this game as they don't break the game yet still are beneficial. unlike say legend of dragoon with it's fucking legend casque which makes you immue to all magic and gives you crazy magic attack power found half way through disk 1 of 4.
If you spend ALL 1500 gold, that's right ever single last 1 gold piece, you can go back to the king and he'll act like he never gave you cash in the first place, like he has some sort of memory loss and decides to give you 1500 MORE GOLD! You can keep doing this as long as you spend every last bit before returning to the king. I almost feel bad for the people living under his rule.
Regarding the first shop. You do not have to spend that much time killing the same monsters to grab the items. The only thing you should buy is the Magic Shield as it is worth it, but Death is just overkill at the beginning of the game. Death uses a lot of mana and the Deluge will kill most enemies with one or two hits. Death can also be baught later in the game from another shop.

You went to far too great lengths to complain about something that the game developers didn't put in the game because you HAD to buy the items, but rather to make it easier for you if you had the patience to collect the gold needed. And as for the blinking, it is still a NES game, and I actually find the graphics quite good for a NES game. And you cannot compare WoW to this game, this game preceded WoW by many, many years and you cannot expect it to have all the features of a modern game.
Faxanadu has like, the best music ever, and despite the annoying gold collecting...and the "Don't have negative thoughts" thing after your PISSED off after dieing and walking back to that same location, It's an awesome game! When i was little i used to play this with my dad, now, i tell him he's fat and to leave me the hell alone =)

For example, in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, a simple bandage (depending who you buy from) can cost up to 450 rubles! And it's true that Faxanadu has some of the best and most memorable music ever.

Funny video, but spending half of it on a superficial criticism seems like a waste. Faxanadu is one of the best NES RPGs of all time, right up there with Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, and Wizardry. It's one of the best NES games period.
I'm an Angry Video Game Nerd fan and generally I really don't like the ripoff versions of his work, but I gotta say your review was really funny and enjoyable. I think you should change your name to something more original and continue reviewing games. Just because you're a game reviewer doesn't mean you're a direct ripoff of James afterall =) You have enough of your own individual style.
At the beginning you can spend the beginning 1500 over and over again if you want. You just have to spend all of it and then go back to the king, and he'll give you more. I almost beat this game, but the shitty password system screwed up and I just kind of abandoned it.

it was on emulator although I do own the original, i really can't argue with save states. You're right about the mantras, they were long and had the zeros that look like the letter O.
whatever you want to call them , pay no mind to it , what's important is the genuine affection for what you are doing , nothing can stand in the way of progress , and you are making progress , although the occasional self loathing jikol will try to upset your creative vision .

Besides, compared to any game nowadays, 1 hour isn't nearly as bad to grind possibly some of the best items in the game.
Good video though. You should have emphasized how much it fucking sucked to miss those precision-based jumps from platform to platform...

This game is fantastic and shouldn't be reviewed with vitriol and nitpicking. Glad you enjoyed it though as i think everyone would given the chance.

Funny video, but spending half of it on a superficial criticism seems like a waste. Faxanadu is one of the best NES RPGs of all time, right up there with Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, and Wizardry. It's one of the best NES games period.

I'm an Angry Video Game Nerd fan and generally I really don't like the ripoff versions of his work, but I gotta say your review was really funny and enjoyable. I think you should change your name to something more original and continue reviewing games. Just because you're a game reviewer doesn't mean you're a direct ripoff of James afterall =) You have enough of your own individual style.

At the beginning you can spend the beginning 1500 over and over again if you want. You just have to spend all of it and then go back to the king, and he'll give you more. I almost beat this game, but the shitty password system screwed up and I just kind of abandoned it.

Best Faxanadu review EVER!!!! I especially love the unforgettable music part, I can relate!! I had this game back in the day and loved it, and recently started playing it again on an emulator....kick ass

Lol! Not long ago I bought a NES over ebay, and then also bought Faxanadu. Damn this game is actually very hard to play :-) And yes the music, I can't get it out of my head aaargh !!!

I am planning on going back and playing some more though.
I love this game as much as Chaos World, Gargoyle's Quest, Crystalis and Chronicles of the Radia War. True classics.
The gameplay is just awesome, and I agree, the music is REALLY good, lol!

man, hilarious, keep up the good work. and this was actually one of the first games i owned, also loved the music, only thing that annoyed me like hell in this game was the long ass mantras (passwords) that were given to save progress.
was this on emulator or you were playing the original?

it was on emulator although I do own the original, i really can't argue with save states. You're right about the mantras, they were long and had the zeros that look like the letter O.

whatever you want to call them , pay no mind to it , what's important is the genuine affection for what you are doing , nothing can stand in the way of progress , and you are making progress , although the occasional self loathing jikol will try to upset your creative vision .

i can see you're putting some serious effort into these reviews and sketches , i give you a 5 star rating for that alone . Keep it up , there is a consistent level of quality present in all your videos and the editing is excellent .
The effects are funny also , your enthusiasm is readily evident , and yes , you are taking a cue from James Rolfe but i can see some genuine inspiration here .

wtf reviewing a game no one gives a shit about? bad acting. I did laugh at the crack about the people having epileptic seizures. You need someone reviewing your work to tell you when it sucks. get a side character or something. It also takes the pressure off you to be entertaining. Hey it's workin for athene.

Or... you could continue through the game 'til you make that kind of money anyway and come back to get the items when you're supposed to (*they're cheaper there than in the other shops later in the game.) Other than wasting half the video talking about that, pretty funny. And, I too really enjoy the soundtrack. One of the best!
