First, he does in fact train the Seals. Second, there is no waiting. Paul is just illustrating the technique by separating the move into arbitrary sections.
Oh yeah, the Seals aren't losing the war in Iraq (notice the spelling, Sparky). That honor is reserved for the Army.
Mr Vunak initially makes a haymaker type movement, then switches to a lower level attack, then of course the usual knee in the groin.Basicaly his initial attack opens him up for a right croos or if his partner slips inside Mr Vunak leading arm the partner can inflict close quarter attacks.Of course this is the usual rehearsed demo.
Not every one blocks a strike that way. If someone was throwing that slap at me, I'd do the same block I would for a haymaker or a hook and counter with a cross.
@fallwellnowinhell depends... those that practise penis qi gong and condition that area will catch you very off guard... there are numerous pressure points on the centre line and down the meridians of the body... you need to know them all so that you can strike them when you have opportunity. Sometimes going for the groin shot will throw you off balance or give them an opportunity for a take down. Having only one trick on you will get you hurt against someone who knows what they're doing.

This isn't JKD, it's PFS (Progressive Fighting Systems). It's based on some of the precepts of JKD, but modified so it can be taught quickly and effectively for self-defense. And yes, it does rely on a particular combination of moves. The ultimate realization of JKD--to flow and intercept--is only possible after many years of training and learning to sense and predict movement. Think of this as an accelerated version.
Honestly can you anticipate a low line attack like that? Paul is instantaneously switching from high to low line attack. The auto reflex for people when the groin is slapped is to jump back. That's not conducive to a successful knee attack. Also Paul has a hand up to check an attack and his head is off the line of the attack.

Paul Vunak is still amazing after 25years or more of doing this stuff. Regardless of whether he looks off balance when he goes low, he is not. He is the consumate fighter and moves back and forth into all sorts of postures...this is what becomes confusing to his opponents.

Vunak is always cutting edge in his understanding and approach to fighting, one may not always adopt his techniques entirely but there is always something to take home and make your own
nope. if someone attacks you, you can fight back but not take the initiative. meaning everything your doing is a reaction to what he is doing. If he tries to punch you, you can dodge and kick him in the groin and run away.

Paul Vunak is pretty entertaining. His trapping and all other moves are no doubt pretty good although I don't like some of his teaching methods. But he always has interesting things to say to make you laugh.
Vunaks shit is really good. I have trained with a lot of different people, and having learned the shit he talks about on his tapes, and then actually using it on sparring partners, it really does work. Nothing is perfect, but shit it works....
Trapping doesnt work in a street fight against a well committed opponent. Paul has strategies and techniques that really work in street fights. However, trapping isnt one of them!!!
Trapping is for the streets,have you been in a fight on the street,I trapped guys before,trapping works, because guys block,and when they block you trap,generally when people say it doesn't work it means they can't do it
If trapping never worked on the street then why did Bruce Lee stress the fact that it should be taught. And it still is taught in JKD. If it wasnt functional they wouldnt teach it. Trapping is simple and effective. You dont just trap thier arms for as long as you can...you bring the elbows, headbutts, knees or take the guy to the ground after.
Yea but he still kept certain elements of wing chun such as vertical fist when punching, chi sao, some of its principles as well as trapping. Otherwise they still wouldnt teach it nowdays.
there are articles on the internet from paul vunak and makoto kabayama talking about trapping and they both say themselves that its functional. but you need the reflexes and sesitivity to do it. wing chun people can trap fine. i was boxing a wing chun guy and he trapped my a couple of times. paul vunak also said that he couldnt trap untill he learnt the weapons to develop his attributes. then he said he was trapping people left right and centre. if you want the article ill give you a link.

Most people generally find trapping either difficult or useless. One reason is because they dont ahve the attributes to do it. But then again i guess it also depends on the person. I prefer to trap when i have the oppertunity to since it just leads to an easy finish since they are fully open. However i sometimes find it almost impossible to trap a JKD and Wing Chun guy. IMO most boxers are fine since your already in trapping range. I guess it just depends what you prefer.

If you mean that vertical punching/the straight lead isn't as POWERFUL as, say, a right cross, then you've clearly never been on the receiving end of it by someone who really knows how to do it.
Bruce Lee's one-inch punch demonstration clearly showed the physics of the straight lead; when delivered at full force by someone who knows how to deliver it, it is incredibly powerful, efficient and direct.

Of course jkd is not allowed in the ring. Its main premise is use anything that works. To send an opponent to the nearest hospital in the shortest possible time. Have you seen any eye gouging in the ring? Have you seen any biting? Mr Vunak initially makes a haymaker type movement, then switches to a lower level attack, then of course the usual knee in the groin.Basicaly his initial attack opens him up for a right croos or if his partner slips inside Mr Vunak leading arm the partner can inflict close quarter attacks.Of course this is the usual rehearsed demo.

Sometimes going for the groin shot will throw you off balance or give them an opportunity for a take down. Having only one trick on you will get you hurt against someone who knows what they're doing.

This isn't JKD, it's PFS (Progressive Fighting Systems). It's based on some of the precepts of JKD, but modified so it can be taught quickly and effectively for self-defense. And yes, it does rely on a particular combination of moves. The ultimate realization of JKD--to flow and intercept--is only possible after many years of training and learning to sense and predict movement. Think of this as an accelerated version.

Honestly can you anticipate a low line attack like that? Paul is instantaneously switching from high to low line attack. The auto reflex for people when the groin is slapped is to jump back. That's not conducive to a successful knee attack. Also Paul has a hand up to check an attack and his head is off the line of the attack.

If trapping never worked on the street then why did Bruce Lee stress the fact that it should be taught. And it still is taught in JKD. If it wasnt functional they wouldnt teach it. Trapping is simple and effective. You dont just trap thier arms for as long as you can...you bring the elbows, headbutts, knees or take the guy to the ground after.

there are articles on the internet from paul vunak and makoto kabayama talking about trapping and they both say themselves that its functional. but you need the reflexes and sesitivity to do it. wing chun people can trap fine. i was boxing a wing chun guy and he trapped my a couple of times. paul vunak also said that he couldnt trap untill he learnt the weapons to develop his attributes. then he said he was trapping people left right and centre. if you want the article ill give you a link.

Most people generally find trapping either difficult or useless. One reason is because they dont ahve the attributes to do it. But then again i guess it also depends on the person. I prefer to trap when i have the oppertunity to since it just leads to an easy finish since they are fully open. However i sometimes find it almost impossible to trap a JKD and Wing Chun guy. IMO most boxers are fine since your already in trapping range. I guess it just depends what you prefer.

If you mean that vertical punching/the straight lead isn't as POWERFUL as, say, a right cross, then you've clearly never been on the receiving end of it by someone who really knows how to do it.
Bruce Lee's one-inch punch demonstration clearly showed the physics of the straight lead; when delivered at full force by someone who knows how to deliver it, it is incredibly powerful, efficient and direct.

Of course jkd is not allowed in the ring. Its main premise is use anything that works. To send an opponent to the nearest hospital in the shortest possible time. Have you seen any eye gouging in the ring? Have you seen any biting? Well Mike Tyson did it once, do you realize what would have happended if Tyson followed up that ear bite with a wallop overhand while Holyfield was jumping in pain? Dont describe JKD by style, its basically different for every person. Dont be stupid coach.

frankly if a person is hellbent on killing me, and he's armed with a knife going for my throat, if a bite to the ear is what it takes to stop him, I will bite him. You cant think about aids or other diseases anymore. If you bite him, there might be 10%, 15%, 20% probability that the aggresor might have aids. It depends on how rampant the disease is in your area, but at that crucial moment, you just could'nt care, coz if he sticks your throat with a knife, your 100% dead.

Biting is merely a supporting tool, its not meant to finish a fight. Its used mainly as a last ditch tool to escape from holds or disadvantageous positions or to regain the initiative. After that switch to your other other more potent tools. The key word here is survival. Sorry but Im not worshipping Paul. Im just trying to learn something new and if it works for me, Ill use it no matter what others say. And if it does'nt, I'll discard it no matter what others say.

i said i will upload some stuff when i have time and i finish filming my training drills for students and military students..that hasnt happened as i am taking more and more service men on due to my geographical location,my client base and god only granted us 24 hours in the day and 7 days of which i teach 48 hours of those and i train and prepare my studnets..P.S i have trained P.V students and they say i am better than him ...less talk more action thats the key.americans talk 2much

no i said i will try to upload some drills with krav maga ,some c.q.c ..some k1 and mma training drills,ask frontline krav maga and he will confirm our chats ,i teach near 40 hours a week and research and train another 20 ,on top of that i teach civillians ,military ,fighters in mma and k1 and i still train and research ,i retired from IT to focus on combatives/provide that knowledge to my large and varied client base..ill do my best to please you soon mate ..promise

well, firstly this video of his isn't a drill... he is just showing one of many thousands of outcomes that would happen if he were to find his hands in that particular point of reference with his opponent... the fact that he went low.. is one of many many things he could do.. it is just an example.
As far as compliant opponents go, he's been in many real fights, some which were STARTED by him just to see if his theories really work and so don't you agree that he would only show things that wrk?
