  • Someone can tell me the name of the music Ian Gillan sing in the first 10 seconds of the video?

  • @Rosenthalist It's "Bluesy Blue Sea" - Gillan's Inn Version

  • They certainly don't make them like they use to in the industry.

  • Ian Gillan is the MAN in rock singers. I love this guy as a singer.

Keep on rocking Ian - you will never be forgotten in the annals of rock singers.

  • Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillan did not always get along with each other. In fact it seemed like they hated each other, but on the other hand they worked perfectly on the studio albums, and Deep Purple were the greatest live band ever.I think Ian and Ritchie got along alot better than people thought.

  • THE MASTER, THE MAESTRO OF VOICE, THE GOD'S VOICE!

  • LEGENDARY...that's right!!! :)

  • Didn't notice Ritchie Blackmore in that list.... :D

  • Shit Janick doesn't have a solo on Smoke on the Water, that sucks.

  • a friend of ian's is a friend of mine,I always say. rock on !

  • GILLLAAAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!

  • The Best

  • Ian IS the guy you want to share a few pints with down at the local watering hole!

  • what is the name of this album??

  • @torrid94 "Gillan´s Inn."

  • @torrid94 it is called "Gillan"s Inn".. saw him in Calgary, Canada in a shithole bar...excellent!! ( did not know he was so short)

  • Whats the song on the begining?

  • @executor518 Bluesy Blue Sea

  • I had the privilege of seeing him on this tour. I never in my life thought I'd get to see Gillan solo performed live. He opened with "No Laughing in Heaven", and the rest of the night was heaven

(would you believe there were actually people in the crowd who grumped that he didn't play "Highway Star"?)

  • he must stop singing now heis been late about 20years ithink .......

  • Gillan is a father of so much more than metal. Love the work on Superstar.

Tough life, survivor. One of the classics in my mind.

He might have to battle with Robert Plant and the devil for the baddest voice in rock. But we will all be dead when that duel happens!

  • I know Ritchie would never, EVER do this, but imagine if...

Jon Lord rejoined, pushing Don Airey to primarily PIANO duties.

Ritchie Blackmore joined and the band had a two guitar attack.

That'd be fuckin' intense. I still wanna see a Mark 4 reunion, I never got a chance to see Lord or Ritchie.

  • I love Ian and Ritchie. I wish they would stop the hate and rejoin eachother. it would be epic. btw, what is the song hes singing at the beginning?

  • Ian was the best for Purple!

  • the one and only, Ian Gillan !

  • @GeorgVanHalen ian gillan is the best

  • @GeorgVanHalen IAN GILLAN, the greatest metal singer, number one!!!!

  • The KING and 1 of the true fathers of METAL ... Ian Gillan. \m/

  • @enoch5000

You took the exactly words out of my mouth! Metal brother!

  • fuck yeah! that last scream with vibrato RULES!!! my old singer from Brazil used to sing high from hearing Ian Gillan and later found out about Halford, but I think Gillan did it the best.

  • wonderful and powerful scream (without effects!) at the end of the video...

  • Ian.....you forgot Ritchie yes the God father of Purple

  • mm it would be nice to call nick simper or rod evans!!.

  • It is really hard for me to get my head around any Deep Purple music without Ritchie Blackmore being involved in it. I am quite certain the other guys have done a fantastic job, but gosh. To me Ritchie IS Deep Purple.

  • Ritchie left Deep Purple at the height of their climb to fame to form RAINBOW. Definately something went down between Ritchie and Deep Purple.

  • Part of the problem is that Ritchie is a control freak and as far as he was concerned everything had to be done his way or no way. As for what went down I dont know but I know that it was something very serious between Ritchie and Ian Gillan. Even to this day Gillan will not discuss the incident.

  • Comment removed

  • You have proof of this? I find it hard to believe since I haven't heard anything official.

If you cant prove what you say then I think what you've written above could be considered lible. Better consult your lawyer now!

  • Yes, silverhamer I agree. Ritchie always demanded each member play or sing perfect each time be it studio or tour. And he would throw a fit if he felt somebody was having an off night. Plus he wanted a more technical, labor intensive sound.

  • ...the problem is that even Ritchie from the '80 on have had bed nights...but when both Gillan and Ritchie were on fire they exploded...

  • Why isn't he listing the help of David Coverdale?? He has the finest voice in blues rock!!

  • 'coz David isn't his friend)

  • more surprised no Bruce Dickinson

  • David Coverdale was good - but hadn't got the depth to touch Ian's vocal range?

  • what's the name of this album?

  • Gillans Inn

    :)

  • Black Sabbath's 'Born Again' album was a classic.Funny, alot of pple don't like it.I went to the show back in Oct.'83 and they encored 'Smoke on the Water' I thought it was a great version.

  • good for you, man - "Born Again" is - in my not-so-humbe opinion - one of THE most underrated albums in metal. Trashed/Keep It Warm/Digital Bitch/Disturbing the Priest - Good Shit, man!

  • I wanna hear Janick do a solo for it.

  • Gillan will always be the Singer for Purple. I'd rather see him at his worst that ever see other singer fronting the band.

It's cool listening to the list of people who guested on Gillans Album. He has a lot of Pull in the Rock world. And they were probably all inspired by Gillan and the Music of Purple.

  • Couldn't agree more. I feel the same way regarding Jesus Christ Superstar. Gillan MADE that role, and hearing anyone else do it is always disappointing.

  • i cannot find this track in Which Ian sings(Jesus Christ Superstar),can you help me?

  • Ian Gillan plays Jesus on the original JCS album. The studio album, not the broadway or movie album. Came out in 1969, I think.

  • Wish Blackmore was there.. :/

  • At 63yrs old his voice has held up better than anyone close to his age.I saw him recently on his solo tour and his voice was freakin amazing. He can still get it done. Much respect!!

  • hey man dio's 65 this summer and his voice just keeps gettin better its like a fine wine him, freddie mercury and ian are in a whole different league to anyone else in my opinion

  • Yeah, Gillan and Dio are my two all time favorite singers.Coincidently Deep Purple and Rainbow are my two favorite bands!! Cheers!!

  • Check out "Clear Air Turbulance" from Gillan's 70's post Purple time. I still have original in collection. Also, for Purple fans, "Paice, Ashton& Lord" album " Malice in Wonderland". Auch, Coverdale's " Northwinds".

  • Nicht auch - UNBEDINGT - Coverdale's "Northwinds"!!! ***ggg***

  • I'm Gillan maniac!!!!!!

  • Choosing who I want to play Smoke on the Water? Well that's simple - Ritchie Blackmore.

Honestly... Gillan and Blackmore are absolute tools for not working with each other. The best music they ever made (or ever will make) was when they worked together.

They're both guilty. I mean... Blackmore's Night?? WHAT THE FUCK!? Grow a pair Blackmore, stop playing with your wife and get Ian on the phone.

  • i think it´s not possible:

its easier to reincarnate Tommy Bolin

  • Haha! Well put.

  • Bluesy blue sea won´t you favour me??

  • Been a big Gillan fan since 1974

  • Since he left purple for the first time

  • I have seen Purple two times live, 2006 & 2007, and despite the fact Gillan isn't 25 anymore, thay really rock. His performance was still awesome.

  • I'm 18 and male and this guy is my idol=) he's every year weaker on his vocal, but he did a great job in his life. I also admire him because he has so much energy at this age.

  • You're young, ***ggg*** but 100% right - his voice is gradually getting weaker - BUT: his attitude and personality are worth being admired.

One of the finest (and freindliest) entertainers in rock.

  • I'm 18 & female but this guy is my Idol.

  • ian gillan is my hero, i love him in purple and sabbath, and dio and ozzy are my favorite other singers, tony iommi is my favorite guitarist, i sing like ian gillan in my band because i can do the vocal belting and falsetto's like he can and now i know what he feels when he has sores on his sores in his throat

  • you sound as a sabbath's fan jejee

  • you sound as a sabbath's fan jejee

  • you sound as a sabbath's fan jejee

  • you sound as a sabbath's fan jejee

  • gillan is god

  • Gillan has no soul, only voice.... Coverda has soul and voice

  • It's the other way around actually...

Coverdale is a typical boring rock sell-out.

  • i like both but gillan is way better....but u cant fuck around with still of the night.

  • And you have no knowledge at all!

  • Got both versions of the album (Gillan's Inn; Gillan's Inn Tour Edition) and while some say the new versions are not superior in any way to the old, I disagree: "Unchain Your Brain," "Bluesy Blues Sea," "Men of War" and "Demon's Eye" equal or surpass the originals.

See the video of my performance with Ian Gillan.

  • w w w . deeppurpleforo . c o m

  • Iommi, Roth... wow, cool guests

  • I'm a 15 year old girl but this guy is my hero!!

  • Ian Gillian and Paul Rodgers - fucking cant be touched.

Wish Gillian made another album with Sabbath. The "Born Again" album is the most underrated album in metal. Have a smoke and listen to "Disturbing The Priest"......

  • he probably sound good on "back in black"....now that would be a great concept..original backing tracks of famous bands..with new fresh vocals by guest vocalists-how cool would that be!

  • it's been done

  • Hey classicrockchild, you're one smart kid with excellent taste.

  • O god his voice ^^

  • he's still the best XD

  • Legend he's still got it, I saw him the other month.

  • I'm a 17 year old female

but this guy is my hero!!

  • and you are my hero

  • I'm 46 male and he's my hero too.

  • go gillan
