Hey Everybody! I have just released my new album "Unhinged" which is very inspired by my all time favorite musician Akira Yamaoka and his game soundtrack work. You can stream or download the whole album for free on my youtube channel!
@supershigi Yeah it's on itunes right now, it has like no reviews so it must've been put up very recently. I just searched play for japan in my itunes app and i found it.
@WeEatBrainz Oh wow, thank-you for letting me know! I haven't received an email from Akira's team in a while so I totally didn't even realize they got through the copyright stuff! I'm going to go check it out now^^
@Lantis02 Thank-you for your interest in the project! Unfortunately the release date has been delayed until the week of June 20th due to an issue with registering the copyright for the whole album. But I'll make sure to let everyone know as soon as it's released^^
i was hoping that you wouldnt mind sharing your sn? for wow
i have a roomate who get on wow all the time at the strangest hours and im just trying to help him out a little by spreading the word around. i know reputation matters in games especially in wow. i personally was drawn to your tube when seeing that you had composed music. i love it and im trying out new programs to make a lttle noise. if you have any advice i would much appreciate it,
That...is one impressive soundtrack...Seeing your name along with other famous video game music composers is unbelievable. I'm definitely buying this. I was hoping to see Shoji Meguro on that list though...
Don't own an MP3 player, and not much into the digital download, so I really hope a cd version can be released so more gamers can lend their support while getting this epic collection of music.
Kondo! McCreary! Mitsuda! Uematsu! Yamaoka! This album is going to be nothing less than an epic of titans!
Is there any chance that this is going to be available on any format other than iTunes, because some folks who don't use that service (like myself) would still really REALLY want to support this cause. Which reminds me, is Play for Japan the name of the charity, or is this effort supporting specific organizations the way your discounted PvZ album did?
@HisDivineShadow245 I'll make sure to ask for you about the iTunes format^^ Play for Japan is the name of the campaign that's being organized by folks in the video game industry. Besides releasing a music album, a huge part of the funds that have been generated are coming from auctions of video game paraphernalia that have been donated by industry folks. If you check out the website you can see some of the cool stuff that's been auctioned so far!
@goonsnak2k Actually, the effort is called "Play" for Japan because we're a group of folks who work in the video game industry (the play on words could also reference the fact that we're all composers who play musical instruments) :P
Recently Ippo Yamada and a few others did a nice little concert of the Zero series and aired it live on stickam. It played at 5:00am where I live. It was so worth staying awake for. :D
This mashup for Play for Japan will no doubt be incredible as well.
@smsff7 Actually, most of them are new compositions written specifically for the album so no one has heard them before (I know mine is); there are only a couple that are re-releases. The video game title that appears next to the composer's name is just a title that the composer is known for.
Wow, this charity sounds absolutely amazing. I can't wait to get my hands on it and listen to what awesomeness you're contributing as well. God bless Japan!
Congrats, Laura! This sounds like a really great cause to support, and this is a very interesting way of support it! Your music is awesome, and I am sure your contributions to this project will sound wonderful!

Bought it. Yamaoka and Mitsuda were what drew me to it but I ended up taking a great liking to everything.

And lets not forget Mitusda's work on Xenogears, which is equally mindblowing :)
Honestly Uematsu and Mitsuda are legends, gods. My absolute favorites
But leaving that personal side note asside, an amazing effort to get this Play for Japan album together. Looks epic!
