If you got 300 viruses in an hour, you did a HELL of a lot more than "going to Apple(dot)com and Microsoft(dot)com." I've had my HP G7 for a few months now, and so far, I've never encountered a virus. And @RevolutionaryUS that hasn't been my experience with Norton, at all. Maybe they're just out to get you, personally. xD
Just want to let you know as a Mac and a PC user, own MacBook Pro 17 IN 2010 model max everything, and a PC, acer 18.41 IN. 2008, I don't use an anti-virus, any time my friend tries to scan my computer, he finds nothing... I think you went on MicroSoft Internet explorer, as we all know Internet explorer is a virus, get Firefox before browsing...
@mandoza3 IE9 is not a virus it has excellent security on it and is way faster and more stable than FireFox and Google Chrome. Also how the heck would he get 300 viruses by just downloading iTunes and looking Microsofts website for updates which you never had to do with Widnows XP and higher. He either looked at a crap ton of porn(On sketchy sights) or clicked on one of the browser pop ups that said he had a virus and let it scan his computer to put viruses in it.
I ran my PC for 18 months before I realised I hadn't even switched on the firewall and it was still running as smooth as the day I started. Not a hint of a virus.
PCs aren't virus prone, it's the flimsy OS that most people use that is. The trick is to use a decent OS that lets you setup decent security and then not to allow root execution permissions to anything on the internet.
This is commonly known as an id10t error. I'm not meaning to diss you or anything, but if you got that many viruses you should stay away from computers period. If you get 300 in an hour your bound to get viruses sooner or later on your mac.
Well, the first thing you should do on a PC is install anti-virus. Because PCs have 90% of the market, more viruses infect them, instead of Macs or Linuxes. Linuxes don't get viruses because they are ment for security. While a Mac does get viruses. Those I call "inivisible virus" becuase Macs can't detect them or do anything about it. That's part of why Macs crash often, unlike PCs, viruses don't crash them unless you don't do anything about it.
@MajorKickFail It is actually quite the opposite. If a virus wants to operate under OS X, the user HAS to know about it. The largest threat on macs is malware, basically software that tries to take information as you use it. Where on windows any program can execute itself outside of the OS allocated memory. Windows has about 84% I believe.
tell me since when PC has no virus... even my yearly paid karpersky cant help me 100% all the time... and i have not spend a dime for anti virus on any of my mac system... go figure
Norton says things like that so that you will buy their product. They list all potential viruses as major threats to make you believe your computer is infected. It's called marketing. lol Norton doesnt belong on any computer. Invest in something else.
btw, Why would you try to download itunes on a pc? Sure, windows media player sux, but itunes will interrupt you randomly cuz it wants to be updated. It has a great store though, I will admit.
How many of those "viruses" were tracking cookies and or other tracking programs that your Mac doesn't seem to notice? Norton and many other anti malware programs consider anything that tracks your internet usage as a "virus" and that is good to pick up on. But it doesn't hinder performance as a rule. You likely get tracked on a Mac, but can't do much about it.
F**king lier. Look at your self, your back ground. controlled by Mac. learn to be free and take some risk. get out and have fun.
I am PC technician. I have been using PC since DOS. I have seen people browse through all sorts of web and all sorts of software, games, crack files, even voluntarily introduced computer virus. But have not seen 100 virus in one computer at same time.
norton is a virus... that was your first mistake. Since 1995 I have had 2 viruses (and I was into download warez and all sorts of garbage)... I have no idea what you are doing.
Lots of viruses have been made specifically for Macintosh since that commercial, and it's really easy to keep up with the Mac since virtually every one is identical. Any good PC user knows to get Spybot Search and Destroy and immunize their browers, and to grab Firefox and customize it to their preferences. If you got that many viruses, either you were doing something wrong, or Apple was doing something wrong, or your computer came with Viruses already on it (Did you buy a Toshiba?)
Bwahahahahaha MUAHAHAHAHA MU HUHUHUHU HAHAHAH HAR HAR HAR!
You ONLY went to Apple and Microsoft? Well then if you're telling the truth, you've just made it sound like Apple loaded your PC down with Viruses so that you'd buy a Mac from them.
dam man, well how many porn sites did you go in that hour. There is no way that could happen even if you didnt have an antivirus. Did you have an Antivirus. Oh and let me tell you, There is no fucking way that you could have gotten a virus from going to those websites. If you did you could have seud their ass. Fucking lier your just trying to get people to dislike Microsoft. FUCK MAC its alright but who gives a shit. PC FOR LIFE
the Norton was (300) virus and it was not 300 it was 1 saying u had 300 and there is no way u could have got a virus from going to MS.com to apple.com so i see you telling people to watch porn on mac witch all it is good for
its unfucking believeble because its not true anyway its interesting that you didnt get something like 256 viruses or 327 viruses it was 300... yeh ur such a liar obviously, i hv never got a virus
google microsoft security essentials and download it its free program :) i srsly doubt tho that u got 300 viruses just on microsoft . com and apple . com when i have never got a single 1 when i go on loads of websites everyday and download loads of stuff and have never got a virus (my virus program ses theres no viruses :)) anyway, pc is better.
first of all don't use Norton, its one of the worst out there. My recommendation is to get the free version of AVG. I would also recommend Zone alarm, it might get very annoying but if you use it right i will guaranty you will never get a virus. I have had these programs for about three years and never once had a problem.
That's one hell of a bizarre thing to happen. But he's a little vague on the specifics. Mainly, he didn't say that the viruses were visually confirmed by him or a repair shop to actually BE bona fide viruses. Just because Norton says there are viruses, it doesn't mean that they are actually there (it seems Norton is becoming the leader of false positives). Also, it's not said whether or not the PC was an off-the-shelf pre-build or one he made up from picking out the individual components.
Since I bought my new system for like 6 mounths ago I havnt had a single virus, just a few tracking cookies and some malware which didnt even had the time to become active before it was cleaned and deleted. And you used Norton? Well then blame yourself for getting viruses ;). You better read up ;).
Not all PC's are Windows... For some reason Mac users are all brain washed in to believing there are only 2 OS in the world .... I assure you my Linux , and BSD PC have never had a virus... As you may know Mac OS uses code from BSD... and Apple made a Linux distribution once call MKLinux... Linux and BSD are free and run on almost any PC ... So being a PC had nothing to do with the viruses... and my Windows vista and Windows 7 never had one virus.
lol fucking mac users think they can just start up a pc and go. why the fuck would you use norton are you retarted? spend the extra on kaspersky, 2 years no viruses every and i've download 200 programs and 300 pronos, and over 2000 movies, and you must of been on the wrong sites never have i ever herd of that..
Why use iTunes on a Mac? Because Windows Media Player is crap on the Mac, thats why. Another program you PC dudes out there could try is ClamWin, its free and its also cross platform compatible with the Mac version being able to find and remove Windows programmed viruses even from a Mac. I had a Win Virus sitting in my Docs folder. Of course a .EXE has no way of executing under a Mac/Linux system, yet I'd rather get rid of them instead of passing them on to friends via email or the home network.
