There was a rat in there too which I got later - I wasn't expecting the mice as normally they just drown themselves in all the water containers so I don't need to trap them.

The trap was set really fine but must have gone off at the perfect time for a triple kill.

I had bags of fish food in the polytunnel where I was breeding fish so the mice were drawn in for that. The doors of the polytunnel were closed most of the time to keep the tunnel warm for the fish (tropicals) so the mice had free reign as my cats couldn't get in there.

@lewisbmth rodents are pests, spread disease and damage property.

many are also invasive species. for those killing is the option.

if you release a house mouse it will either come back or find someone else.

native mice will tend to stay away unless conditions get bad or food is scarce. even then they tend to visit.

house mice and rats will seek out humans and their buildings. that is their new habitat, they have adapted well to us.

They are but unfortunately I didn't have a normal mousetrap so I used a rat trap set very finely. It obviously wasn't set finely enough as there were at least 3 mice on it when it sprung.
