  • The album 'All Fools Day' was actually released in April 1986, and this single was released in March 1986, and hit the top 40 by April.

  • I met this lineup when they toured the States. Great guys. After the show they had people back at their bus, just opened up the beer and had a good time with everyone. I had been a fan for 9-10 years at this point; they couldn't believe I drove 500 miles "just to see us?!?"

  • Awesome song, THE SAINTS Inspired so many bands !!!!! Cheers LOZA

  • I'm a Sydney guy who returned home 2 weeks ago after 9 years in England and man, I'm glad I'm home. AUSTRALIA YOU'RE GREAT, DON'T EVER CHANGE.

  • @RoyBatty666 You're probably tired of hearing this by now, but bloody well said! I've lived in Brisbane all my life, I admit, I take it for granted sometimes until I see, hear or read something like your comment, and all my hometown pride kicks me in the butt and says "You've got the best thing going here, mate :)".

  • met them in belgrade. they were so cool, gave me picks, sign the record i have, gave me "nothing is straight in my house" album... such a cool guys!!!

  • i met my wife at the PIG CITY book launch...I was the first punter through the gates...Our first slow dance ever was to 'too much acid' by the Pineapples from the Dawn of Time.. we made out to 'know your product' by you know who...were now married..happily in love....

    thanx, Brisbane.....you know who are.....

  • @conspiracyofsilence

Funny hubby and I almost had a fight at Pig City concert, he drank half a goony before we went in, determined to be in right mood for the gig, all he did was nearly right himself off, I lost him in there, he apparently was feely sorry for himself lying under a tree, some other drunk guy was kicking him and telling him to get up as about to miss The Saints, he turned up just as they started playing! ...still together after 25 years...hope yours is as long and happy

  • could be one of the best 3 songs ever

  • Actually this song was released in 1986 but who cares - awesome Aussie classic (was on the Mushroom label from memory). The album may have been released in 87 though. All good.

  • Actually this song was released in 1986 but who cares - awesome Aussie classic (was on the Mushroom label from memory).

  • @RoyBatty666 fuck yeah, I grew up in Toowong now living in London, have gotten to know Barry(saints guitarist), great guy, brissy was a different monster back in the 80s/90s, before the yuppies renovated all the cool queenslanders, very alternative and cultural, lacking soul now I feel(then again has'nt capitalism/greed ruined every great city?)Getting off the nostalgic track a bit!The Empire hotels Super Deluxe club night was my era!

  • Why at urpp or what.

  • I like pie

  • ... just how Queensland can you get? And "Progress Road" ... mmm ... do I detect a banana-bender's tongue planted firmly in cheek there? Geez, but I love this place!

  • @pisceanchild Yeah, "Progress Road" was progress... you can now get out of the damn place.

I have a special place in my heart for Queensland, especially Brissie's western suburbs and Ipswich, but damn, it looks depressing here. (And on my last drive through "Richlands" - again, Qld irony maybe? - I thought the same...)

  • This Is The Great Brisbane Band of The 1970s !They all came from Oxley .I went to the 865 clubhouse at Petrie Terrace several times until Fucking JOHS OWN POLICE FORCE shut it down and all the music venues .The saints fucked off like the Go Betweens and lots of other bands. The Video "IM stranded was shot at the club I was there that night .ARUGA!

  • @MyAruga yeah and you ate shit from oxley dumb fuck....also keep this in mind queensland is a backward state and dont you ever forget that...jerk-off.

  • @alkira001 dumbass shit for brains clown

  • whooooaaa!!! I used to listen this song a lot when i was a rebel teenager. Nice post, thank you.

  • people from queensland are gypsys...its a backward state

  • one word "Southside":)

  • Quite a Transition from The I'm Stranded to Know You're Product However i really like this song too.

  • I like this song!!

  • Yeah.. I'm a Brissie girl too... I am totally IN LOVE still with this band, they are LEGENDS.... used to paint to their sound in Melbourne....listen also to their "I'm" Stranded" album....sprang like a lion out of Brisbane to number one in London and prescursed PUNK, but they were not punk. They were like energy ....Queensland was gerrymandered politically to billio at the time. They had something REAL to say and to react to....

  • gr8 selection of music.

Putting in a request for Joan Armatrading, Midnight Oil, Triffids & The Church. Sunnyboys nice1

  • I was 10 in 1987. My Childhood was based growing up in Inala. It made me strong and very wise.

This clip brought back some amazing memories.

    Thank you for Uploading

  • Well said. Brisbane is a magic place. I am going back there this January after living in Greece for the last 15 mths.

  • I was drunk in Christchurch NZ in 87...2009 I remembered that I had seen them in a gig! Hahaha

  • this was filmed in the basement of Coconut grove Bingo hall the one in the video.I grew up not far from progress rd at the Inala end.Went to bingo with mum when I was 7-8 yrs old in that bingo hall.

    great memeories

  • Wow ...Coconut Grove bingo, the cement works, good old Wacol and is that Darra Station? My favourite Saints song. Thanks for the memories.

  • Brillant. What a band. I have never lived in Brisbane. The song makes me want to go there to find that angel statue! Is it still there? Where is the statue/fountain? Also a lesson in how to produce a song. Those numbskulls who produced Amorosi's latest crap should be forced to watch this 100 times.

  • I have kived in most states of OZ each has its own story . Were'nt we spoilt in the late seventies and the whole of the 80's with so many great Aussie bands

  • yup i live in this area. good times =D

  • the instumental section from 1.53 best ever?

  • ((((( Awesomeness )))))

  • i grew up in the area, and it has chaged a lot but a lot of the areas filmed are still there today, and are iconic to my up bringing, if you lived in the area you would know what im talking about.

  • I love this!...We used to play it in our little band years ago, and people always commented favourably...

  • Thanks so much for posting this classic vid.

I'm a Maroubra boy living in the UK and miss home dearly. The Saints were definitely a great unsung Aussie band...didn't they do another classic...The Music Goes Round My Head??

Great times then...I was 16, innocent, care free and miss the 80s.

  • I'm a Sth Aussie in Canada and I was 15 in 87. I hear ya..

  • I'm a W. Aussie in Japan and I agree too.

  • Im an Aussie living in Greece. I wa salso 15 in 87. So true, my man. A privilige to have grown up in Brissy.

  • I live in Brissy and it's still a privilege.

    Cheers ;)

  • Yasoo Costa (I take it it's your name)...

I'm an Aussie born Greek living in London with my wife and kids and in 87 I was 16. Grew up in Maroubra/Kingsford then moved out to Hurstville when I got married.

Been in the UK for 7 years and really miss Oz. I too remember when this track was released and for a time the Saints ruled the airwaves...and why not, the track is catchy and hooks you in. I love the shot of the fibro homes...miss Oz. My folks are from Kefalonia

    Yasoo

  • Yes, my name is Costa. I have been working on the beach on the Ionian coast in Greece for the last 5 mths, directly opposite and within clear sight of Kefalonia. I have been staring at that island for 5 mths, thinking about Oz with this song in my head.

    Yasoo

  • @CON19723

Yasoo costa, ... i grew up in M'bra/kingsford now eastgardens ... dad was from Ithaca / mum mainland ... and this was a vgood song from those days!

  • @5150VanAlien Come back then! you and family welcome

  • Classic. I love this song. It's so very Australian.

  • you made my day :) Rose

  • Legendary memories of a by-gone age and great band! ... Ebbw vale station hasn't changed much to this day as shown in the earlier part of the footage.

  • It`s wierd. The better and more sucessful they became, the less interesting they were. I did like the gurus too but, no.

  • always loved this for the Brisbane references.. Richlands, Inala, Progress Rd, the Gateway Bridge

  • Saw them at the Qld Uni in the early eighties, waiting in line for the tickets we saw Chris Bailey walk by, being a cheeky young punk I said to him " I wanna good one tonight Chris", he shot back without hesitating " Dont rely on me for your sex life". Funny bastard.

  • One of their best tracks,...thanks for uploading man

  • hoodu gooru

  • how's the gateway (17sec) not a fucken sole on the road, now it's 180 mins ipswich to pine rivers bridge thank fuck the'er duplicating the motorway,3:21 the wacol sign i think that strill looks the same as today, pretty cool all the same. inala thogh still shit breeding shit

  • old Inala boy here, this clip brings back great memories. My dog lost his leg trying to jump over those "cyclone" fences replacing the old wooden fences.

  • Aussie gold

  • I was to young for the whole 77 thing but rember 87...this was a ripper and still is.

  • Hi K lol

  • fuck yeahhhhhh

  • I love this song....i lived in Inala most of my life and the memories are a vivid picture everytime i watch this classic!

  • hello world (a) when I win a couple of million dollars I would invite Chris to sing at my 60th birthday and (b) Doug would sing "dear prudence" to my lovely daughter.

  • Absolute aussie legends the saints great to see alot of the old Australian songs on you-tube thanks nzoz

  • Is this the best song of all times?

  • @selmep

No, but it can't be far off :)

  • Wow, I always liked this song, I never realised a fair part of the video clip was shot within walking distance of my house. How the inala/wacol area has changed!

  • check out the hq monaro at 1.00.makes an old ipswich boy all sentimental

  • Aye nzoz yer a legend.

Thanks for bringing some great music from this part of the world to youtube. Onya.

  • im so happy to find this song on You Tube, thanks heaps for posting it.

    cheers,

    James

  • Hmmm... the only original member of the Saints by this stage was Chris Bailey... although I think the band's original drummer Ivor Hay did rejoin the band during this time.

  • right on the 3 minute mark, the old man walking with the hat on is my girlfriends grandfather... he just passed away a couple of weeks ago

  • the old man on one of the two go-betweens streets of your town was the grandfather of one of my ex-s. (filmed near rodmaun, west end)we're practically related!condolences to your girlfriend. grandfathers can be pretty special to a girl.

  • Thanks for keeping this up on YouTube. Brings back memories of 120 Minutes and the good old days!

  • At the begin. of the clip, you see the "Richlands" sign, this is the next suburb to Darra, the same train line where Chris wrote "I'm Stranded" - his old stamping grounds! - brilliant songwriter and singer.

  • I thought Ed Kuepper wrote 'I'm Stranded'

  • Yes they just about wrote all their songs together, but with "I'm Stranded" Chris came up with the concept, when he was stranded at a train station one night after missing the last train home, double meaning ofcourse for all sorts of teenage angst - yeah Chris wrote it!.

  • I lived on the otherside in East Ipswich.. wow. totally forgot these boys were local.

  • @nzoz1987 Ed Kuepper did indeed write "(I'm) Stranded". Ed Kuepper's contribution was sadly undersold by Glen A Baker's cover notes to the Saints compilation album "Songs of Salvation".

  • Anymore Australian you would be serving it up with a stubby and a pie!!! Awesome classic Aussie song!!

  • This is a great song a real classic!
