    To remove the valve covers, 12mm wrench, shallow and deep socket. Oil rail is a small t30 torx. The injector hold downs are t40 torx. I use a long shaft torx and cut it down so the socket end sits just above the injector, You will also use a 10mm wrench and sockets. A 15/16 for the ICP in the valve cover. On the FICM, 5/16 and the 10mm. I believe that would cover it!

  • Thanks for your vids! I have learned much. I have a 2003 6.0L that appears to have a stuck injector - gray smoke blows from the exhaust. It's hard to start due to excessive fuel in the cylinder with the bad injector. Does this mean the injector tip broke off? Spool valve stuck open? Obviously I need to replace the injector, but how concerned should I be over cylinder, piston, or valve damage? I have not tried to crank it since this happened. I would appreciate your recommendation.

    With an injector failure like yours, it is possible that it may just be an injector oring that could have failed. Once you remove the injector, a damaged oring would be visible. Also inspect the copper sealing washer for being burnt. It is possible that the injector may not have been torqued down correctly to cause the oring to fail. As for any related damage, your should be fine. The bottom end of the 6.0lit is very tough. I highly doubt there would be any damage.

  • When you stated the Cause of the Injector failure was the Fuel Pump, Why, How did the Pump make the Injectors go out. Lack of PSI

  • @BoostedGMC Normal static fuel pressure should be 45 to 55 psi. Dynamic fuel pressure should never drop below 45. Anything below 45 PSI and there is not enough lubricity in the fuel for lubrication of the injector. This will cause the injector to misfire when the engine is cold. I have worked on some that the fuel pressure was so low, that it produced it's own pressure. Dynamic pressure on that one was 0 PSI, idling 30PSI!

  • Do you replace the standpipe o'rings when replacing the injectors? I have done them without putting new o'rings, just curious. Can't wait to see what you start seeing with the new 6.7's, hopefully not too much!

    I reuse the standpipe orings with no problems at all. Unless I repalce the head gaskets. The head gasket set comes with replacements! I have yet to even find a problem with the 6.7lit. I reprogrammed a PCM and got a new DTC afterwards. After hunting for the cause, Hotline advised me that they have reports of false boost DTCs. Theres a few failing, all chassis cab models with failures.

  • What kind of tool did u use for the fuel lines I have an 06 powerstroke w a jumping fuel preassure gauge I have the updated fuel preassure regulater kit ..the blue spring

    The fuel release tool is from a Cornwell tool truck. They are quick release tools for 5/16" lines and the 3/8" fuel line. Does the fuel pressure reach a steady level at all? where are you testing the fuel pressure from? It could be a fuel pump, or an injector oring could also leak.
