  • Kafka Hello, I live in Sao Paulo Brazil, I found your videos on youtube and found it very good, you're done well, here in Brazil is weak pinstriping, so I do not even think to buy stuff, I would like you spent a relationship materials should I buy to start in prinstriping, there'll buy at ebay or if you can be showing me another way to be buying better, I await your contact in a big hug and congratulations for the work. email engwellingtonz@hotmail.com Wqueiroz

  • beautiful work! what's the grid drawn with?

  • @greaserleo I use and recommend Staedtler omni chrome pencils ,they don't melt, easy clean up, no ghosts, same price as a Stabilo. Me and most of my friends use them, and love them.

    Steve

  • My vinyl sheets just don't seem to turn out quite like his.

  • @MySqueakyfoot The more you practice the more they will, it's worth the effort. If you need help you can e-mail me steve@kooltie.com and I'll try to help you.

    Steve

  • love the design and colors that were used

  • Good morning zen. I want to stripe too!

  • Good morning, try steve kafka .com you'll find the "systen" it has helped a lot of stripers find their own way into this incredible art form without being frustrated.

  • There ain't no way I'd try that. I'd have that screwed up royally but this work here is very beautiful and professional.

  • 6 dislikes, give me a break!

    This guy's great!

  • absolutly beautiful!

  • @howes1919 I hope your going to try this, It's a blast!!

  • @kafkapinstriping i hope so too, im just getting into pinstriping. ive always wanted to, its just so hard to find brushes around here in ontario canada

  • Is there a site to buy your brushes and your video I tried the mack brushes and had no luck but yours looks so much easier and would love it if you had a book pf basic patterns as i do old school rat rods and choppers and would love to stripe them and ty for the video it was great and your right I want to do my stripes "the Kafka Way" :)

  • @milnerbeck stevekafka has it all, goodluck

  • @kafkapinstriping you have the website i am ready to buy now :)

  • whats paints you using? that was great

  • @milnerbeck I use One Shot lettering enamel ,with my smooth stroke paint additive.

  • Amazing!

  • Thin with mineral spirits, clean brush with Lacquer thinner, this guy is a Zen Master!

  • Wow! Beautiful Work! Really!

  • Amazing stuff you're making man !! keep it like that !! nice

  • @joker35140 thanks for the kind words, you should try it , it's a lot of fun.

    Steve

  • @kafkapinstriping Since I watch at your videos I'm doing it steve ;).It' s a difficult thing but I work a lot on it to progress

thanks again for the videos :)

  • @joker35140 You have to put the effort in to get results out,If you need help just ask. Have fun!

    Steve

  • how do you remove the grid

  • @cbill3259 Well,if your using an omnichrome pencil you wait until all the paint is dry and you spray Windex on a micro fiber cloth and wipe it off, on most surfaces.

  • You should see how great it is to do it! I can help anyone that wants to learn.

Thank you for your kind words Charlene.

    Regards,

    Steve

  • Beautiful piece of work! I enjoy watching him do this!

  • Nice! that piece reminds me of those paintings you could buy in Mexico in the early '70's on flattened out bark which were of birds and flowers.

  • is there a link that someone can refrence me to pinstripe circles or very harsh curves, i can lay down a mile long stripe with no bump but cant get the damn brush to circle back without making the line thicker

  • @robertdr118016r I'm going out on a limb here and assume your using one of my scrolling brushes... Stay up on the tip of the brush and use natural wrist action to make circles, don't spin or twirl the brush between your fingers, and watch all of the videos they will help you. It's a blast so don't get discouraged, it's worth the effort.

    Regards,

    Steve

  • MY LOWRIDER WOULD B NOTHING WITH OUT PINSTRIPING RESPECT

  • @zoltec88 Lowriders are a BLAST to stripe ,and the client is always a dedicated creator in the automotive art form . Respect,

I made a bunch of aluminum kleenex boxes ,painted and striped o'skool , all of the panels on the videos are for sale too ,$100.00 each ,some are gone some are not .. I'm thrilled your enjoying the System .

    Regards,

    Steve

  • @kafkapinstriping

link to the facebook PLEASE. I think a nice tissue box would make SPRING ALOT BETTER...

  • @thesoria1 The only liquids I use are mineral spirits for thinning the paint and lacquer thinner to wash out the brush between colors

  • That is absolutely amazing! I can say i will be getting this brush as soon as possible.

  • These brushes are a blast , you'll love them . They're sold by Summit racing ,Eastwood , Coast Airbrush, steve kafka.com , Dick Blick . and many others world-wide If you have questions just ask.

    Steve

  • thats sick

  • Thanks for your response. I am a student going to school studying fine art painting and my instructor suggested I try using this technique and material in my artwork. Could one shot paint and this style brush make successful lines anywhere other than on a vehicle? For example, a wood panel?

  • I myself have a fine arts background. These brushes are great with acrylics on any surface , several well known artists use my scriptliner sets and my striping brushes. This has been the single most rewarding art form I've ever been involved in ,you get to face to face with the client, no 50% gallery fee and they pay in cash ,with a huge smile. You can find all of my brushes on Steve Kafka .com. There are thousands having a blast and supporting themselves at the same time. I'll help when I can

  • What is the drying time for the lacquer?

  • @Sarskianna Lacquer is very rarely used in modern times, it's actually illegal in quite a few states. I'm using an oil-based sign painters enamel called One Shot . The drying times are relatively short depending on things like humidity , temperature &, air movement . Ideally it will dry to the touch in 3-4 hours. Lacquer will of course dry sometimes in minutes.. Hope this helps.

    Steve

  • Thanks for the kind words, and my wife has already straightened me out on my apostrophe placement, as did my daughter and several other viewers , I promise it will NEVER happen again, it just felt more natural somehow.

    Regards,

    Steve

  • beautiful color choices and nice relaxed painting as well.

  • @jerry19mty Oil base, acrylic is water based

  • super chingon vato

  • man thats beautiful!

  • what other paint, can i use, instead the special pinstriping brands and paints. Because they dont sell it in my country; im a beginner and in dont kwon how to start if i cant have the material... a friend bring me some mack brushes so i just need the paint... thanks

  • @GIbo9mm Well you can use the brushes your friend brought you and get your paint on the internet ,when you get frustrated enough try a #3 scroller they are sold all over the planet.

    Good luck,

    Steve

  • he's like bob ross only better!

  • @thesoria1 In all of the videos I'm using my # 3 scroller , I've just released my new Short Stroke brush, a shorter version of the # 3 They're selling fast ,and people love them ,only a few dozen left out of the first production run . they work real well for smaller handed people . Have fun,

    Steve

  • that is amazing im 13 and im trying to get into pinstriping and i think the peice that you did is one of the best ive seen. and if you have a kit i would be happy to buy one.

    -jake

  • @BikerDude096 You are the perfect age to get involved , the harder you practice the better you'll become .Check out System , on my site ,or Coast Airbrush or the Eastwood co,or Summit Racing , and call with any question you may have ,and I will try to help , good luck Jake ,have fun with it .

    Best regards,

    Steve Kafka

  • @thesoria1 the brush I'm using in the video is a #3 kafka scroller ,I just released a shorter version called The Short Stroke for people with a smaller hand Everything is availabla @ steve kafka.com have fun,

    Steve

  • @thesoria1 The paint is thinned with mineral spirits and smooth stroke fiish eye eliminator . I use a Staedtler omni-chrome pencil, it's not a grease pencil and wont melt in you paint box like stabilo does . Hope this helps you.

    steve

  • great stuff, need some new clips, maybe on a car or truck

  • I have brushes no:1 and 3. Absolutely excellent brushes. Easy to stripe! Thank's!

  • oh and whats the size of the brush? Thanks for your time

  • @pulquedelmejor 3 kafka scroll brush

  • @pulquedelmejor The brush is a #3 scroller, and we now have a newer version for people with smaller hands called the Short Stroke .

  • I want that brush!!!!

  • going to ordering my brushes today. question, what do you use to seal the work? your using that oneshot paint right? and what do you have to consider for surface prep before you start?

  • @quillstuck non abrasive polish,prep sol

  • I have watched your video several times, especially your hand and finger movements. I have a very difficult time making that brush slide in curves. I find myself reverting back to the sign painters practice of twirling/twisting the brush.

I just can't seem to get it down. There must be a way because you are doing it. Groan.

  • @texicane1 Stay up n the tip it's a little harder to teach an ol dawg new tricks but we all are happy to stop twirlling and we don't have to wear those damned tutus anymore!!!keep on practicing try some small flame licks they are a blast with the #3

    Regards Steve

  • @texicane1 keep practicing it's worth it !

  • @texicane1 keep practicing it's worth the effort!

  • Truly a god amongst men... So inspired right now!

  • those colors and design just jump at me.

  • How about designing. Anyone can copy other peoples work but I have searched and can't seem to find the "basics." Any set rule in designing?

  • @texicane1 My System is designed to give the user the basics ,and then to expand on their own .People are usually inspired by others work ,and encouraged to develop design on their own,as in any art form their are basic design elements such as balance , and eye appeal , not to mention use of color and the effect they have on one another on the substrate once the basics are yours the sky is the limit!.Hope this helps,

    Steve

  • @kafkapinstriping I purchased your starter kit about a year ago inspired by what I saw at shows and shops around the area. I dove right in about a year ago it's beena long time workin on it (I drive truck full time) but I'm starting to get more comfortable with my technique and more skilled with the brush . Just wanted to say thanks , now I lay stripes on everything that'll hold still

    Dusty

  • @maxbobbuck Thats what it's all about, getting new stripers out there, now you can turn someone else on to it ! have fun ,great post, thank you.

    Steve

  • @texicane1 I have replied to this comment but the site wouldn't let it post. Design has several elements to draw from. Client input, balance ,color usage ,style ,personal preference all are related to your production Look at all the fantastic work being done out there and emulate the ones you like ,elaborate on them, most of all HAVE FUN!',

    Steve

  • How about designing. Anyone can copy other peoples work but I have searched and can't seem to find the "basics." Any set rule in designing?

    Steve

    @toledochoppers

  • Do you get the same price for lettering on a vehicle or is there any pricing guide?

  • The price variations could be infinite in both disciplines , depending on, design ,amount of color , intricacy , time spent ,etc. Hope this doesn't confuse you .

    Regards,

    Steve

    texicane1

  • He's a genius indeed...

  • I love your brushes. I bought your kit and I am having lots of fun learning and practicing - even though my striping is not that good.

The #3 brush is excellent - a thousand and one uses.

I also bought something called a "Bobbo Mack - 00" which is similar but smaller.

I also have one of your 000 'dager' brushes which is great for designs with lots of straight lines.

May I ask what that black material is that the work is being done on?

  • i jus got the #0 and #3 scrolling brushes they are unbelievable

  • Incredible.Wish i had just a little of thiis talent.

  • I could watch this all day. It brings back so many memories of my childhood, when i would watch my dad's pinstriper buddy work. Awesome art form, i hope it never dies. You are the greatest Kafka!

  • hey steve

    very nice job again!

do you know if can i get your brushes from a supplier in western australia or is it best for me to go direct to your website or something??

    cheers again

  • how do you take the grid off when your done?

  • Wait a day or two until the work is completely dry and then use a little Windex on a microfiber cloth.

  • Amazing work. I love the amount of dimensionality in your designs. Unmatched in pinstriping.

  • I could watch Steve all day.

  • This 1 was awesome !!! i'm gettin me Kafka brush out when i get home !!!
