  • Infinity, thanks for the info. I watch this video at least once a week and am always amazed by the perfection. You my American friends MUST be proud and respectful of these fine people. To serve AND entertain - Admirable!! Would love to know more.

  • And btw, it's Semper Fi, and the Marine's Hymn.

  • Anyone worried about drill being 90% rather than 100% should know that half of that band (there are 4 different southern California bands combined here) had just gotten off of Iraq deployment in the second/third cycle so hadn't seen an instrument for 7 months. There was two days drumline practice with full band march, and one with the whole group playing. I'm the center snare (miramar hosted that year). Not every Marine Band has the same cadence or plays the same exact notes and rhythms with al

  • Best Military band in the world, playing the best martial music ever written. Well, perhaps the Coldstream Guards, but no British band EVER had John Phillip Sousa, the absolute king of counterpoint!

  • GOOSEBUMPS !!!!!!

  • que le pasa al camarografo?? esta enamorado del que va hasta al frente??

  • WoW!

  • i think the trombone player second from left get a hundred push up lol

  • Solid playing, but unexceptional drill - one of the trombones blew it at 5.35. I suggest folks have a look at the British Royal Marines and then watch some of the drill evolutions of German, Finnish or Norwegian military bands. The Germans have superb brass.

  • And don't you just want to tell those people who are talking to STFU??

  • Semper Fi and God bless John Phillip Sousa.

  • Good lookin band. Imortant part of the Marines' PR mission.

  • Day-UMMMMMMNNNN!

  • that aerial view of their band block is stunning! I've heard at least part of them play at the Columbus Day Parade in San Francisco a couple times...they are great!

  • I remember this!!! i was in the band that was standing there watching them march past(in the white, black and gold uniforms)..Nacogdoches High School Dragon Band!!

  • other than the trombone boff at 5:36 an amazing performance.

  • And the people marking time too long at 0:33

  • theres a band that will kick your ass if you say one bad thing bout them

  • HA! I was thinking the same thing!

  • lol i feel bad for the band that has to play after that

  • Yeah. I'd feel just -SLIGHTLY- intimidated. lol

  • although they could you know that they never would...these men all fight for the very freedom to say that and they have enough discipline and self respect to know not to...their playing does all the talking

  • Actually, while these men have all gone through basic training and can fire a rifle as well as they can play an instrument, they haven't fought in a war yet. If they're ever sent off to war they won't be back to play.

  • I beg to differ. I served with the 1st Marine Division Band in Iraq in both 2003 and 2004. They returned in 2007 as well to support the 5th Marine Regiment. the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band has also been Iraq several times -- each deployment between 7 months to a year. Primary mission was security with 50 cal, Mk 19 and 240G machine guns.

  • Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. I personally know many in the Marine Corps Band that have been to Iraq and involved in combat action. Mabey next time you should not display your complete ignorance so openly.

  • F-NY-single - MSG me on MSN. ID is in my profile. X

  • The name of it is Semper Feilds

  • The name of the song is Semper Fidelis by John Phillip Sousa.

  • that is not semper fidelis

  • I'm pretty sure that is "Semper fidelis" by John Philip Sousa. I've played it a number of times.

  • It is Semper Fidelis.

  • can someone here tell me the name of that marching song being played by the band? i first heard it in the movie--- a few good men,one of my favorite movie..thanks..(^-^)

  • I believe its the Washington Post.

  • .....thanks....(^-^)

  • Oh no. This is Semper Fidelis, not The Washington Post. Go Navy, Go Marine Corps! OOH-RAH!!!

  • Oooo motherfuckin Rahh! That's what I'll be doing in about a month and a half. I cant wait, great vid. Semper Fi!

  • GO GO MARINE BAND!

  • nicely done

  • Careful men, these band geeks can kick your ass.

  • Uh..actually..The President's Own doesn't go to War...ever. The FIELD Bands do.

  • You obviously don't know how things are done in the Marine Corps. So I will enlighten you.

Every Marine is a basic infantry man, that includes everyone in this band. Well over half of these Marines have gone to war and seen combat. Just because they play instruments in their assigned job doesn't mean that when the time comes they don't put that horn down, pick up their rifle and take out the enemy. They are Marines that happen to play an instrument.

  • Thank you trellius85....I happen to be in the Marine Corps. Band. Like they said, we are basic rifleman, we are just in the band. we get deployed and see combat just like the rest of the Marines.....

  • the best band for the past 232 years

  • @saintsman2010 You must be joking, try THE BAND OF HER MAJESTY'S ROYAL MARINES.

  • @luxiguy They're both perfectly good bands. Jesus, dude. Don't turn this into an argument that doesn't need to be started.

  • @saintsman2010 and counting !

  • @saintsman2010 Try the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines, OR The Band of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards
