I remember my squirrels first flight, i was ecstatic. As much as i am surprised how the flying squirrels behave similarly, so do the owners. I do the same thing with his tail while hes eating. My boy, ludwig, once landed on my face while i was getting dressed. Left a bit of a claw mark. And no flying squirrels really dont bite unless you try to take food from them or they confuse your hand for food. Just like any other pet really.

sugar gliders have different markings and a longer tail, and are technically marsupials. Real flying squirrels are more uniform in color and have a flat feather-like tail. :)
