You mean he will re-use the same techniques for different songs? I know what you are saying, but all his wahs, and them big loud screeches, etc... add a little personality to it in my opinion; you can almost always tell it's him playing by certain characteristics in the playing. But the emotion is definitely there, behind every song is a story. I read some of the descriptions of songs on his albums and he explains how 'this song was about 911, I was too emotional to finish it back then', etc...
dude.... anon... you are so mislead by your own thoughts man. joe is one of the most emotional players out there. i don't know how you label his sound a manufactured sound, but open your ears mate, his passion is one of the biggest out there. just watch Made of Tears
@anon540 You're missing to really hear satch. Obviously you know a little about guitar players and a little too much about playing an instrument like the guitar. Joe Satriani is probably (Jimi Hendrix aside), the most emotional guitar player you'll ever hear about. Yeah, he does long running scales and uses wah's and delays and some other effects and so february what?, that doesn't means he has a manufactured sound. Imo, you need to listen to a lot more players and a loooot more satch. Period.
Lol, it's Joe Satriani, a popular guitarist who has worked with Metallica and Deep Purple. He actually taught Kirk Hammet (Metallica Guitarist) how to play the guitar. Only a handful of people know him, which is unfortunate. This was a concert I went to last year and the guy below has been asking me to upload this song, so I did :P Thanks for the comment bro.
Satch is the man....cool song...:X...love it...

I used to rave over Satriani, but after a while I realized he sounded like a fake. It seems like he uses all technique and very little emotion.
He has an excellent technique, but the manufactured sound bothers me. Once in a while I'll hear a pretty good piece coming from him though.
Of course I could just be missing something, but I don't think so.

TEN WORDS! that was written over 911. A cool new way was written about literally "a cool new way" to write his songs.
