You speak truth!!! Celia Cruz although a cuban was a beautiful Black Cuban woman and the Latina performer that ever lived. She embraced very much the African part of her heritage in many of her songs and performance style. Patti Labelle ( a well respected songstress in the American Culture) was paying tribute and I feel her tribute! From one African Influenced culture (Black American) to another the Cuban Culture. I don't care how "out of place" some of you think Patti is here, she couldn't have been more suitable for the very reason that she loved and respected Celia very much. Even co-wrote a song in Celia's memory after her death with La India, Andy Vargas and Carlos Santana on the track. Celia was love, and it crossed borders of genre, race, religion, and language. Which was why she and Patti were good friends. La amistad nunca fallo.

It was but for that one moment a black thing, and Celia and Pedro, and I and all black people world over knew it. We feel each other's soul, and it is something that others just can't relate to. I am african american. I love the soul that black latinos bring to the spanish world. I feel their passion.

So sad, all the negative comments on this video about Patti's performance. It can't get no better, than one african queen paying a tribute to another african queen. Look closely at the video, Celia and Pedro, enjoyed it. The white latinos, in the audience, the ones standing behind Celia, the white latino dancers, All enjoyed it! If you can't see that this was a beautiful tribute, then it must be a black thing, that you just can't understand!

She embraced very much the African part of her heritage in many of her songs and performance style. I don't care how "out of place" some of you think Patti is here, she couldn't have been more suitable for the very reason that she loved and respected Celia very much. Even co-wrote a song in Celia's memory after her death with La India, Andy Vargas and Carlos Santana on the track. Celia was love, and it crossed borders of genre, race, religion, and language. Which was why she and Patti were good friends. La amistad nunca fallo.

It was but for that one moment a black thing, and Celia and Pedro, and I and all black people world over knew it. We feel each other's soul, and it is something that others just can't relate to. I have seen her live once in my life when I was a little girl, and yes, she really gets into those high and low notes. There is no female performer quite like her. Entertaining, funny, heart wrenching, stylish, all rolled into one diva!

i am fascinated by miss patti...she is a true and complete show-woman!!!!!!!!!!!!! there ain't nobody like her!!!!!!! as latino, i was so happy and felt so proud to see patti and gloria gaynor pay tribute to OUR QUEEN CELIA!!!!!!! God rest her soul. ...Does anyone know the name of the song Patti was singing when she said "I hear the voice of the soul through you..." Please help!!!! Thank you :)

I know a lot of Pattie Labelle's songs and I honestly think she was just singing from her soul and giving respect to Celia. No song in mind because she was singing along to "quimbara ?" and was going with the flow - being herself. They only gave her about a minute and 30 seconds. Just enough time but to say Thank you Celia!!!

I never told anyone but Patti kicked me around like a rubber ball on stage, everytime I would get up she would stomp me again with those shoes of hers, she gave me a slapping around like a step child. I would take a swing and she would block it and throw me around like a rag doll
