Just off the phone to run your question by Dean Jeffries, the Hollywood car builder for the studios and the original Green Hornet TV series in the 1960s ... he confirmed that the original car was a '65 Chrysler Imperial. FYI - additional info is that for the earlier movie, Jeffries created two identical version of the Green Hornet Imperial - one for use in the Green Hornet TV show scenes and stunts and one that went out on nationwide tour for publicity exhibitions and car shows. - The Car Guy

If I had to guess, I would say Steve Ford was in the NRA. The Original looked better, because there wasn't a hint of what it started out as. I guess this new version is for the younger dumbed down movie goers (see.. it was an Imperial). Along with the emphasis on guns, I'm sure the movie's audio track will contain an over abundance of sub bass to enhance the explosives that will be going off every 10 seconds.

The original car from the TV show was actually a 1966 Imperial. But a 1965 and a 1966 Imperial are almost exactly the same.
