  • I dont need those chemical lobotamy pills !

  • Not just stopping medication but missing doses can cause relapse, even when you try to keep taking it after those missed doses. It's like opening a door - no matter if you close it by taking them again, you've already let the symptoms out. I missed several doses at different times this last month, b/c of a change in my dosage I couldn't keep up with...and now I find I'm tired all the time, I feel like I'm walking through a fog all day, I get upset really easily, and have had horrible headaches.

  • I also have to stop myself from thinking how horrible I am, how unworthy I am, etc. On the flip side, I get angered really easily and fly off the handle. And nothing, nothing is enjoyable to me. When I'm on my meds the right way, though, I don't have these problems. My only thing is that I hate taking pills - they taste gross and are hard to swallow.

  • this is so true... whatever she says is exactly what's in my head

  • uh....hello....if stop taking meds is the number one cause for relapse...perhaps its due to the meds withdrawals and sketched out behavior. there are countless people on youtube that share their horrors of psyche med withdrawal. some say they became suicidal AFTER psyche meds or that they have new mood disorders due to the meds. sure, they meds may help some people, but it also makes some a zombie. for the most part, i'm not impressed with the meds seeing how many die from their pill labotomy.

  • @DiaShanti This video is a perfect example of disease mongering. Search the net for " the latest mania: selling bipolar " how they encourage mood watching to "detect " bipolar and a little history on inventing the word "mood stablizer" to make a market for the pill labotamy.

  • @DiaShanti Yes the choices are slim - be a psyco that can get things done or become a zombie who couldn't care less.

  • So your telling everyone that they shouldn't be ambitious and that having a job and going to school at the same time is a bad thing. We already have ways of keeping standards in our community. Those things are called church, religion, jail and law.We don't need to have a hybrid of medicine, law, and religion all wrapped into one. That's called psychiatry. This woman is an idealist and is delusional.

  • @MrWmf483 Well that's a bit rough. Some people have trouble just keeping a job, so naturally a job and school is much more difficult and at times, for a number of people, unwise.

  • Good advice....

  • She's hot!

  • i have bipolar and i never had a feeling of i didnt need medication. so i dont think the speaker is correct, she is speaking as if that is how everyone feels. its also worthy to note that there is no cure for bipolar disorder. medication is simply a selection of chemicals that have been identified as helpful for people who have bipolar.

  • @hulkmedia not everyone but it is very common for bi polar. I struggle with it. intellectually i know i have bipolar, but when im on meds i start to think its not true. I struggle to stay on meds.

  • Julie fast is so accurate with her descriptions of the illness

  • Withdrawl from those toxic bipolar drugs is labeled relaps.

  • I must say as a sufferer and supposed expert you are very rigid in your comments. I have been suffering for over 20 years and through my experiences and observing others you cannot speak of relapse as if it is the same for all. You talk of binge drinking and pot as if it causes relapse in everybody, well I can tell you it does'nt. Alcohol is useless as it just exacerbates the mood ur in but pot effects people in different ways. Please when you speak add the words 'in some people' to your posts.

  • They say I'm BP2 and I can't relate in the slightest to any of this. I think the shrinks are "crazy." BP is dx'd way too much these days...

  • her voice soothes me haha

  • And what is wrong with smoking pot for people with bipolar disorder?

I'm not looking from a response from the public, just the video creator.

  • I think my ex-girlfriend had BPD - it destroyed me and her inside-out - I just pray wherever she is, she will find some peace of mind.

  • @TheJayde1978 damn i might of known her, lol really i am serious.

  • I wish she would have provided some "concrete" methods for staying out of the relapse trap. Like making a video to play to yourself when you think you don't need medication, or having a friend help you out. Sometimes people who relapse never come back...

  • Unfortunately, even John Nash of a Beautiful Mind stopped his meds because "he didn't need them". ACK!

  • Are you serious? How can you be talking about smoking weed on such a public site where a lot of teenagers roam? How would you feel if some teen reads your comments and gets the idea its okay to smoke weed because he/she has bipolar and needs some zoning time. Then they get behind the wheel for one reason or another and ends up killing someone. Do you really want to contribute to something like that?

  • @garfieldandnaudia ,,, How would you feel if some teen reads your comment and gets the idea its okay to take medication then drive and kill someone. Hey teenagers weed will not change your sex, weed will not make you fat, weed will not damage you liver or kidneys, weed will not give you permanent brain damage, weed will not make you sterile, weed will not shorten your life by 20 years, weed is a natural harmless treatment of all mental illnesses, don't listen to brainwashed oldies.

  • @Php48 ???????????

  • @Php48 I believe weed should be legal, but it is NOT harmless to people with mental illness, sure it might be fine for many and might actually help some people but it's NOT completely harmless. By the way amanita mushrooms are "natural" but most of them will poison you, even kill you - natural does NOT equal harmless!

  • @ninjatoothpaste ,, I was not trying to insinuate that all natural things are harmless. The active ingredient CBD in cannabis is a anti psychotic, If a person becomes dependent on anti psychotics then doesn't get there dose they can display psychotic behavior. Every strain of cannabis has a different CBD/THC content. Nature has provided the prefect mental health drug. Try a man made made anti psychotic then try natures and deiced for your self. Whats wrong with feeling good.

  • @Php48 It may work for you, it doesn't for everyone. I already said I thought it should be legal, and there's nothing wrong with it, my point is that it's not the perfect, cure-all solution to mental health problems that you're claiming it is. Personally it helps me out of my depression, though it made my psychosis worse (was a fairly middle or the road strain with respect to THC content, not sure the ration between THC and CBD in it though). Cannabis is good stuff, not perfect though :)

  • @ninjatoothpaste ,, I hear you man, CBD makes it very tasty and good smelling, IF what you smoked made your psychosis worse it couldn't have had a high CBD content. I must point out it is not a cure its a treatment. I hope you take an interest and look into what anti psychotic's do, and understand the importance of THC in preventing brain damage. By completely shutting down brain activity blood supply is reduced, vessels shrink and parts of the brain die of starvation. THC stimulates par %

  • 0:59 um there's actually no proof or even strong evidence that smoking pot can cause bipolar episodes.. Also, 2 the medication so far I'm saying "fuck that". I had 1 episode and it's been about 4 months now and I'm fine (not depressed or manic).I'm just hoping to god my episodes will be so infrequent it won't be much of a problem (like once every 3-4 years or something) or there won't be any recurrance.. The medication is absolutely awful.. It makes me into a retarded zombie. Replies wud be nice

  • @Zerrith ,,,No one goes crazy from smoking pot, you go crazy when you stop, all is well if you stop gradually. Ive had a few episodes all of them have been stress related and could have been prevented if I had a ounce or two. Its nice to just zone out and forget troubles. I'm guessing your undergoing community care, here's the trick, tell them you love meds agree with everything they tell you and they soon let you go, after a month or two off the meds you shouldn't feel like a zombie anymore,

  • @Php48 Thanks for the reply ^_^ and I meant that I have been off of all medication for 4 months, not that it's been 4 months since my episode. I looked up the weed antipsychotic thing, and yeah it looks like as long as the weed is high in CBD I think it is then it actually sounds somewhat safe.. I think as long as I get shit quality, low THC (kind of the opposite of what people normally want) then I should be fine.

  • @Zerrith ,, I don't smoke very often so I get a good buzz from bush weed. From what I've read the higher the CBD content the weed is more tasty so I guess you just need to find a strain that has a good balance of THC & CBD. Man if you live a healthy lifestyle you needn't worry about a relapse, eat right & get plenty of sleep and exercise. (Melatonin is great for getting good sleep) We are only here for a short time so do things that you like. Avoid distractions from your peace of mind.

  • @Zerrith If you're going to go for that, find the right seeds online and grow your own. It may take a while growing it and taking care of it (read up plenty) but it's worth knowing what you're getting if you're gonna risk it. Also, about the medication making you feel like a zombie, how long have you been on it continuously? When I was given various anti-depressants they made me feel numb and zombie-like but after months of use my brain adjusted and I felt normal again :)

  • @Zerrith ,,,,, Google "cannabis antipsychotic" new studies have found that good old pot is actually good for mental illnesses,,, but people like this woman are still caught up in the demonization of it.

  • @Php48 My mom is bi polar and pot makes her lazy and even far more gone than she normally is...I won't let her smoke it.

  • @Trippinpatchouli ,,, sounds like she smokes the strong stuff, only the low THC high CBD cannabis is beneficial for mental illness. Why don't you try her meds for a month and see how they make you feel then deiced what you would rather her take. Being zoned out all the time is no way to live, tell her if she smokes it before she goes to bed its good for her and that way you don't need to put up with her zonked, its not a nice way to see somebody you love. Medications are really bad shit.

  • What a lot of Doctors don't realize, or perhaps they do, I am speaking of my experience only; mediaction is neccessary for me, but not at the super high doses recommended. I think more patients and doctors have to work to find a balance with their meds, and these need to be adjusted from time to time... and I am not just talking about the intitial diagnosis and medicinal adjustment. After a year or several years, you may need to adjust. Many DRs are not willing to allow an adjustment.

  • Man fuuck this shit. Take your medication, get your sleep. Live a normal life. All this relapse bullshit is stupid. This disorder shouldn't be something to make you afraid of standing up to the troubles of the world with a strong heart and a pair of balls. This video makes it sound more hopeless than it is. And as long as you take your other medications, and you have the right way of thinking. Cannabis (not POT) is one of the best natural medicines. I've never had a more regular sleep pattern.

  • This woman is a drug company shill. Treat her "knowledge" with a ten foot pole.

  • "Stopping your medications is the number one cause of relapse." This is her *opinion.* It is NOT the number 1 cause of relapse.

  • Stopping my meds doesn't cause me to relapse, The thing that causes me to relapse is when shit goes down like breaking up with a girlfriend, it gets me all self hating and depressed crying at every song about love, then after a few days mania sets in and I don't sleep and go psychotic. I come back to normal without meds after a few weeks but most of the time people around me get me locked up and drugged up, I know my illness and what it does to me, I do just fine without meds so shut up liar.

  • @Php48 YES I hear you. Any bipolar, or any healthy teenager for that matter, will tell you that shit itself makes you feel bad, and can lead to a meltdown. It may be true that we are ultra-sensitive, but it may also be true that 1) people are impulsive and do shit they shouldn't. 2) If they don't know they are impulsive and you react 3) and they deny that they caused you shit 4) you can melt down. Then you get blamed for your illness. And drugged. It's nonsense.

  • @barkulator ,,, In my *opinion* I think its all got to do with our society, were bombarded with sensationalism on TV, Music is so mood altering, were put under pressures in education and work. In our relationships we seem to live out what the TV tells us to because we want to be part of the drama we think is normal from its suggestiveness. Eventually somethings got to crack because its all so not how we should be living life. The cause of mental illness isn't chemical its a natural reaction.

  • @Php48 Power to you man. Fuck the meds..

  • It isn't easy to get back on track when you lose your job and destroy a relationship. You lose your confidence and feel like you will never achieve anything or have anyone long term.

  • @Miracle736 So true - or having the whole world avoid you because you said something snarky just before crashing into a deep dark well - so much for supportive friends, you just chased them all away. People could try being a tiny bit more understanding ...

  • Yup, I'm bout to start a new job...nervous as hell cus I feel good for now...but im praying I dont relapse and get down. I hate that shit.....This shit is not fun...its like a lot ppl just dont understand my mood.

  • Great!. never stop medication !!!

  • yeah especially when your down it sucks you have no energy and you have no longer the will to live, your brain plays tricks on you and it can be a very selfish and scary place to be at, and what most people think is that being bi-polar is like a fun thing to have! but what most people dont know is the darkness it can bring to your life, the months when your battling with yorself not to kill yourself, i honestly hope no one has to go through any of that, because life is hard enough as it is,peace

  • I have two sets of friends the ones who like "wild & funny"me & the ones who "always feel bad for me"But I'm too scared to go on Meds because I heard they make withdrawal symptoms.A friends daughter trashed a hotel room!S C A R Y!

  • I think you're right. It is fun.. but not all the time.
