Why the hell would they use the sound effects from the Atari 2600 version of Donkey Kong for a Pac-man sendup?

Because Pac-Man 2600s sound effects seem to be the standard video game sound effect for everytime a home sstem is seen being played on a movie or TV show.
I dont know WHY they insist on using it constantly, but they do. I was watching some soap opera with my sister, making fun of it and it showed these kids playing an Xbox, and Atari 2600 Pac-Man soundeffects were being heard.
