  • FIGURE SKATING IS FOR GIRLS

  • my coach does it a little more fluently, but great, thanks!

  • he reminds me of the guy from the hangover bahaha

  • it's in isi gamma which is not advanced and he is switching his foot too slowly. my coach says it has to be like hot potato fast

  • i like his voice, and this isnt even advanced...............

  • why is this called Advanced figure skating moves

  • wow this guy is amazing hey thanks i wish they had coaches like you at my ice rink

  • Ohh! Okay!! I see what I was doing wrong! I did a three turn because I turned on 1 ft. Okay! Thanks!!

  • thats not a mohawk atleast not how my coach teaches me we have our leg out at the end of the turn, not at the side

  • Shit. I could die doing that. And a 3-way turn. D: Just kidding but I just started Gamma and uhh

  • @blahblahlikespie Lol, I just got to Gamma too, and on the real I thought it was going to take me a month and a half to do the 3-Turn and that I'd break my leg doing a Mohawk when I first found out about them. Outside edge 3-Turns on both feet and inside egde 3-Turn on my right foot? That ish took me 25 mins to master and I am NOT that talented of a skater. This Mohawk is next. You'll be fine.

  • @MondeTriste1 Okay. What a relief. :D Thanks though! You make me confident! :D

  • @MondeTriste1 Is he doing a partial three turn before he places the other foot down? I can't tell. I'll also be starting Adult Gamma/Delta in the fall, and can't wait to have this move down solid. :) What level are you skating at now?

  • Mohawks are the worst for me I always think I'm doing a 3-Turn, because the elements are so alike in stance. My trainer yells at me for that lol

  • It looks a little funny but I think since he's trying to teach it really slow and basic the Mohawk isn't turning out too great plus i think the angle the Camara captures it has something to do with it too.

The last one he did was better

One again I don't like how he left out how the edges should be. That's pretty important

  • What are you complaining about? He is doing a mohawk correctly.

  • The subtitles completely cover up the bottom half of the screen so I can't see what his feet are doing at all....

  • He's three-turning the back foot. It's a three turned mohawk and is incorrect. The back foot (the foot that is coming off the ice) should STAY on a forward inside edge until coming off the ice.

  • that actually helped :D

    thanks XDD

  • Thanks a lot for this videos! I'm creating a figure skating school and even if know the movements it's not easy to teach them. Now with this videos i can explain every move to my pupils.

  • this is really good trainning .. really good !

  • i cant see it cause of the words

  • I just learned this move today and found it very difficult. I like that he does the move in such slow motion, that helps a lot. Thank you for posting it.

  • Thanks for the tips!

  • Some comments are ridiculous! Being disagreed to call this excises the Mohawk only because the free foot is not extended at the end... And called themselves the advance skaters. Haha. When you change the direction by swapping your feet in Teapot way and stay on the same edge, you are doing Mohawk. Check out the definition of the Mohawk turn.

  • LOL at the little girl in the background :P

  • jesus christ......

  • agreed @pintohorseowner.....i just learned it today and it doesnt look like tht??...

  • That's not a mohawk. I'm not sure what that is.

  • @pintohorseowner yes its a mohawk he just didnt extend his foot

  • Advanced figure skating moves? REALLY?

This guy doesn't even know the difference between the edges.

  • @teft I pay out your college or whatever you need,-if you can skate better than him.

  • i cant do this :(

  • Well the reason you can't do this is because this IS NOT a mohawk.

  • That's not a mohawk?

  • and as someone else pointed out, he is bending like a 3-turn instead of extending! that is exactly the problem i had! i kept being made to be confused with 3 turns and this. it's because some people accidently bent and kept it up when they were teaching it to me. because of that i became conditioned to do that.

  • i started skating at age 3 . I ended up quitting when I was 13/14 because i couldn't learn this stupid turn. no matter how hard i tried. i practiced hours and hours. even got a private. trainer. everything else i seemed to absorb easily except the mohawk. because of this, my coach told me that i would never be able to learn the jumps or spins because this move is crucial. now this dodo made me think i knew how to do it and he is also wrong. if anyone knows how to teach this move, please help!

  • The problem of this guy seems like he can't open his hunckle and after changing his weight of position the leg in his back has to be extended, what he is doing is really nothing.

  • "Is an exercise called Mo...hawk" It's one word, and what he's doing is NOT a mohawk. It's a retarded three turn.

Imagine having this guy coach you!

  • this guy is so irritating

  • hmmm....im just learning mowhawks, but this isnt it (or atleast it seems ) i say tht because his back foot isnt really extending out , it just looks like a 3-turn this didnt help me much .....

  • I did mohawks in my earlier grades but have to do them in my grade 10 now in my step sequence but have forgotten how to do them so looked on youtube !! i agree with you he cannot do them it looks like a wierd way of doing a three turn tbh !! doesnt help beginners do not look at his videos there wrong !!

  • Ok, I've had enough of Expert Village! This guy CANNOT DO A MOHWAK!!! Thta was more of a crappy 3-turn (waltz jump in america)!!! Do it right, or do something else, instead of making beginners who watch this get it soooooo wrong!!!

  • thank you..... i am a beginner and i am desperate for tips...

  • @samwashere123 lol, a three turn is done on one foot with a change of edge - a mohawk is done from one foot to another, on the same edge. He did a mohawk, just a different style of mohawk. And you don't know what a waltz jump is.

  • he didnt explain wat edges 2 use for this move

  • okayy...wtf thats not a MOHAWK! and u extend the foot not hold it as if u were doing a 3 turn!

  • agree, and when you do a mohawk you continue forvards, not to the right ore left

  • that isn't how i learned my mohawk!

  • thats not a mowhawk well sor of and ur hip has to turn a lot faster

  • Dimitri can you do more videos? thanks

  • I agree with fskater007

  • this isnt a mohawk any of the videos i watch tht u have rnt the moves im learning get a new hobby

  • its like mix between mohawk and chocktow, very wierd

  • thats what I said!

  • I think he knows more about a mohawk hair style than any skating move he's talking about. Also th e camera work is never on the topic. He must be having a BUDweiser or something hairer.

  • aren't you suppose to extend your leg after you switch feet? and you can't put you foot in the middle.

  • His style works for him. I didn't see him falling or anything.

  • observing him made me realize that the 3 turn uses the outer edge, while the mohawk uses the inner.

  • Get a grip ya poof lol your shit

  • that's rude everyone teaches differently and i'm the one who helps out my cousins

  • If this guy is going at full speed, you would be able to see it. This is a russian dude. I would like see any of you non russian trying to speak russian.

  • rofl the litte guy is fu*king funny look at him

  • This is exactly how I was taught, and he explains it well. I just can't do it!

  • Lots of weak people around commenting on looks and accent. Grow up...

  • All coaches teach differently. He's doing it correctly, it's just he's bringing in his free leg rather than extending it out. A mohawk is defined as changing from one foot to the other and staying on the same edges which he was doing. He really wasn't having a hard time holding the last edge, he was going slow because he was demonstratiing and explaining at the same time. Give the guy some credit.

  • hahahahhaa XD

    hi! im borat :)

  • thats not how my teacher taught me

  • He sounds like borat no offence haha. You are good though!

  • the fuck is he saying?

  • I did a mohawk last week - and this is not it.

  • the video isn't about the hairstyle, btw. This is a proper figure skating mohawk...

  • I know, I mean I did a Mohawk on the ice. I ice skate aswel. I didn't mean the hairstyle.

  • Comment removed

  • He's not having a hard time holding the edge out of the mohawk (which for beginners, should last just as long as the edge held going INTO the turn, in distance, not seconds...). Reguardless...if you're learning a mohawk, and having a hard time holding a backwards edge for three seconds, how the hell did you pass basic 5?

  • To be correct it is called an open mohawk vs a closed mohawk.

  • What a homo..

  • the guy talks to us like we don't speak english or sumthin =^0

  • i never knew Borat knew howt o ice skate, hmm well its true what they say, you learn something new everyday.

  • that is in fact a mohawk.

i have skated for 15 years.

    i know this.

  • lol u see that girl in da bak holdin on to the rail? haha funny i remember wen i used to b lik that haha

  • i cnt understand a word he is saying ????

  • dude, it is a mohawk...

  • I just passes my level in figure skating and that is not a mohawk!! I take professional lessons and that is seriously not how u do it!!!

  • thats not a mohawk

  • this dude is an excellent instructor

  • i can already do dat

  • Must you be a Ruski to do shit that advanced?

  • eh that aint the mohawk that i know. lol

the mohawk that i know u stay within a small areea and u do the 1,2,3 differently

  • wow, i can do better then that.... he three turned in the middle.... that was really bad.....

  • everyone can do better than that its just an exicise you learn is like in basic 8

  • work on your mohawks! -__-

  • easy...

  • @icerinkgirl247 he's going from inside to inside edge.... its a mohawk

if he was going from inside edge to outside edge then u'd be right... but he isn't ,so u aren't!

Check ur ratings and make sure u know what ur talking bout before u comment kmt

  • lol the speaks like Borat

  • Oh wow, I have been doing a Mohawk without knowing it!!!

  • VINCE RAVON!

i am the figure skater that commented before

i would like to skate your song new day. please send it to me in a way I can get it on cd!

    good luck!

  • nice accent LOL

  • I think your video is great. I am an independent unknown singer/songwriter. I have always wanted a skater to put together a performance using one of my songs. If you know of any student or professional skaters looking for original music and songs for routines. I'd be happy to hear from you. You can hear a sample of my music. Listen to my song, "Where I Belong" by VInce Ravon. It is on youtube. Search for it. I have others too. I hope you like my music. Best Wishes, Vince Ravon.

  • hi vince my name is sarah and i am also a singer songwriter but i am known within my town and I started figure skating about a year ago. I have been struggleing to find music for my upcoming test. I am not pro but I do jumps and stuff and I would like to check out your music. if I like it I will let you know and I will skate to it

    best of wishes

    sarah

  • Hahaha, now i know why most poeple thinks figure skating is for homosexualls. Just want everyone to remind you that not everyone looks och speaks like that.

  • yeah ive been skating for like 4 years and thats different from how i learned it, but he does do it right. These videos would be great for begginners! Good Job!

  • he isnt doing them right at all

  • simple is u can lane a 3 3 combo like me that is

  • thats the way my couch/sister taught me! lol

  • Maybe he should teach the little girl in the background how to skate XD

  • My instructor kept demanding I had both blades parallel before changing foot, but I'm not that flexible yet. The way he shows here has satisfied my instructor, since I can do it. Working on the flexibility though too.

  • I learned it this way.

    its actually not that hard..

  • but hes teaching the hardest of the mohacks hes doing intern open mohack

the easyest are the close mohacks xD

  • he is sooooooo not gay hes good kool and he loves to skate!!

  • I never thought of it as a three-turn ... Hmm, thanks; the guy has a fob accent, but that's okay

  • Someone taught me how to do that a couple weeks ago, but she never told me it had a name!

  • that is a somewhat odd way to do a mohawk. i just learned how to do one today and when he puts his leg next to his ankle, my teacher says to have that out in front, like a kick.

but what would i know? im just a noob.

  • The way he does it is probably more advanced than the way you do - I'm in a fairly high level and I don't even do it like that.

  • Yes, I agree. It looks really hard the way he does it. But its pretty, and effective so I think its a proper mohawk. Even if a little different then the original one learned in Gamma/Delta.

  • Thanks for posting these! I did all my skaing grades in 2001 and i havent had lessons since so this is a great reminder for me!

  • super great witchiepoo

  • "advanced" my foot. um.......yeah...

  • my instructer didnt teach me it that way!! she told me to keep my foot up then switch!

  • It IS a turn yukikokaoin. But instead of fucked up, its called a mohawk.

  • lol

  • this is a very weird mohawk -.-

  • I went on ice only three times so I have no clue what a beautiful mohawk should be, but this guy is clearly a good teacher. He states clearly what to do and what is the key.

Trust me, the best skater may not be the best teacher, otherwise, there would be no such things as coach :P

  • i hate this guy, you are not supposed to put your free foot on ankle on the other foot. Keep it out... it looks better

  • that was a strange-looking ending to the mohawk.

  • I was actually asked to be an "expert" for one of the expert vilalge videos- talked with the guy, but determined after speaking with him and viewing the expertvilalge site that no one there knows wtf expert/advanced means.

  • lol :P people who actually do the sports/other stuff that is shown on expervillage are much more educated than the guys showing how to do it.

  • this is really bad, the guy is lame. mohawks r easy.

  • im tryin to learn this to wen ma coach explained it i didnt av a clue!!

    thns for the vid

  • i'm trying 2 learn the mohark thank you 4 posting!!!
