yep, he's a yellow crowned amazon alright. Yellow napes are really rare in captivity in Australia, as are yellow crowns, but had I been sold a yellow nape by accident, the breeder would of lost around $4000!
I have to say! that is one well traied bird! I'm saving up for an african gray parrot as i've wanted one for as long as i can remember! just been reading the other comments seeing what tips and tricks i can pick up! defently a good video!
for training i use sunflower, pine nuts, bits of peanuts or bits of almond, they are mixed so it is exciting for him, as a result of not knowing what he is going to get. I dont use a clicker but just say "Good" instead. I find it just as affective a bridge and I always have it handy.
I just got a Yellow crown Amazon. He is 5 years old tho. Do you think he can still learn any tricks or how to talk? The people that had him before never paid attention to him and he never learned how to talk. He doesnt bite tho. What do you think?
Hi Salman, pilot learnt his first few commands in the first two days that i had him, they were to touch a target stick and to come on command. I havent put any new videos up of pilot yet, we have some new tricks but no footage yet. soon though. he doesnt fly outside. i'd love him too, but im not sure if ill ever be ready for it.
howdy, thanks heaps. Pilot is only nine months old so he doesnt have the biggest vocabulary yet but he laughs and sings and he is starting to talk a lot more. i'm hearing new words every week. its awsome. how great are yellow crowns!!
thats amazing, my double yellow head Pele' can fetch and swing around my finger. next thing i want to teach him is to fly to me but im afraid that ill lose him. ive bilt my bird a big play gym and i set it infront of the yard and he plays for hours. but if something goes wrong and someone bumps into the gym hell take off. does pilot ever try to take off, and if so does he just fly back?
Hey i checked out Pele. your very lucky, double yellow heads are amazing. I train pilot using a method based on operant conditioning. its the best way to go. Training a bird to come on command is really easy. If you are curious i can write you a run through of what to do. just message me cause i tend to waffle on and you can only write 500 characters hear.
I thought Jesus was a Carpenter. lol Good video!

its probably no suprise but i get a fair amount of greif for that bum bag. mainly from my flat mate, who ironically gave it to me.

You can't even see the camera lady!! (nerd)
Also, even if you could, it's clear that if there WAS a hottie on the video it would be pilot. xx

Pilot is very well trained parrot. You are doing a good job with him! My Orange Wing, Daisy, waves hello to Pilot!
KITIKATZ 4 years ago
pilot and i watched daisy, pilot was very intrigued. if they lived in the same country they could be friends.
scottohara78 4 years ago
Yes, they could be! But Daisy is too much a Mama;s girl to play with a boy for long!
