AMAZInDAN how the hell would u kno wat kind of condition the babe was in? u wasnt even around back then... so it seems rather unlikely that ud kno "he didnt have an ounce of fat on him" beins as how u never saw him in real life. and joba chamberlain LOVES the game of baseball... he just might b the next brett favre of baseball.

Joba is a fat slob who will be out of baseball within 5 years! He is 21 and already a DISGUSTING FAT BODY! Just wait to this slob hits his mid 20's and really starts to let himself go! I think Jobas new career will be pie eating contests!
Hey Moron its cloear that you know nothing about baseball! Babe Ruth was in AWSOME shape for 90% of his career and when he was a pitcher eary in his career he didn't have an ounce of fat on him. Babe Ruth got heavy towards the end of his career and was a power hitter dope!
Tino's real first name is not a "tough one" as the anouncer seems to think. Anyone who has ever watched or listened to a Yankee game has heard Kay or Sterling refer to Tino as "Constantino."
You could make a case that Joba Chamberlain has the best upside of any new pitcher. Who else has the stuff to match his? The closest I've seen is Tim Lincecum of the Giants [doesn't throw quite as hard as Joba, but has a very similar curve ball], who is about 50 lbs lighter than Joba, and 4 inches shorter. However, Joba has more control than Lincecum, and more velocity on both his fastball and his breaking ball.
This guy reminds me of Roger Clemens. Not as intense though. He lacks that intenseness. Everything else is on, but he's gotta go after them more. I noticed his 98, 99, 100 MPH fastballs are thrown high. If he can bring that speed down in the wheel house, then he'd be much more affective. That throw out at 2nd can be attributed to Joba's fastball.
If Chamberlain turns out to be a great pitcher, I'd rather see him as a starter. I think Rivera could go another 3 or 4 years, and the yankees really need better starting pitching.
I love the fact that, like Mariano Rivera, he has Metallica as his theme music. Joba will eventually either be Mo's replacement, or will be a starter, along with other Yankee prospects, like Phillip Hughes.
Humberto Sanchez might not even pitch for the Yankees at all; they're more likely to try to sign a veteran like Joe Nathan (NY native) in a year or two.
In time,in time. The Yanks farm system is loaded with some serious talent. The next 6-10 years are going to be a blast! So much for not having a farm system.Dont give up on Tyler Clippard either. He is def going to be a stud!
I don't believe it. There are so few quality closers on the market, and Mariano has about 2 years of quality pitching left in his arm. He seems to excel in relief whereas his starting pitching was not at the same level.
lol the infielders in the back are like, "pfft we got this"

Mickey Lolich was a fat slob who threw 98 mph.

Joba could weigh 400 lb. like CC Sabathia and as
long as he brings 100 mph heat, peple will think
he looks like Tommy Hall.(a 6',149-lb.,hard-
throwing southpaw of my youth.)

Chamberlain was a starter since he started his career. He is only relieving right now because the situation the Yankees were in called for it.

He was moved to the bullpen because they need relief help this year. His future is in the rotation.
His numbers as a starter are awesome this year.

Say hello to the apparent heir to Rivera. Just let Mariano teach him how to throw the cutter, and we have a future answer to Papelbon.

He has starter's stamina.
He's gonna be a starter.
Period.

They're grooming him to be a relief pitcher. If you have inside info, please share, otherwise there is no period. Period.

This is a TEAM move. For THIS year.
A #2 Starter is > A Good Closer.
Chamberlain WILL be a starter next year, barring something happening to Mo.

Everyone agrees he will be a starter.
Even the Michael-Freaking Kay knows this.
