  • I'm going to take your miracle gro 20-20-20 advice when I start my pepper crop next wk. We tried last yr & all we got were a very small amount of tiny thin walled peppers. Florida's natural soil I guess just isn't fit for bell peppers. We assumed it was because our habenero peppers (naturally thin-walled) do VERY well in the same soil. Going to try them in drained 5-gallon containers with your method. They cost about 1.50 each in the store - ridiculous b/c we use them ALOT in our house!

  • The yellow ones start out as green?

  • @nottinmatterz2day Yes, the yellow and red start out green.

  • @DonPickett that would be a pratical joke to switch someones red bell pepper seeds with green ones

  • Mmmmmmmmmmm

  • damn look at those red peppers!

  • These capsicums look amazing. I grew some from seed last year and had them in containers so I could bring them in during the winter. Its half way through our winter now (in in New Zealand) and ive got them in my bathroom under fluro lights. They are going awesome and I even hand pollinated and have capsicums growing. I'd love to see them grow this big. I didn't even know they could grow this size. The size of the trunks are amazing. How old are these capsicums?

  • Great plants I hope mine get that big

  • Here in Los Angeles at a local supermarket,I paid $2.65 cents for a Rad Bell pepper! Can you believe that? it's criminal! Can these bell peppers be grown in containers? I live in a condo and have no yard but do have a patio. Can anyone help with advice?

  • YES! I also live in Los Angeles (SVG woot w00t!) and only have a 2nd story landing where my "veggie container garden" is. I've had great success with tomatoes in containers last year, and this year am growing two pots of red bell's and a sweet banana pepper plant in addition to tomatoes and sugar snap peas (wrong time of year, but oh well). Try and get the biggest pots you can and use a quality potting mix and fertilizer. At least 6-8 hrs of full sun a day and water carefully. Just research!

  • @nevroth Hey,thanks for the info. Ill be planting next week. Where is the "SVG"?? Just curious. I myself live in the San Gabriel Valley.

    Peace

  • Oh man, I'm dyslexic sometimes (honest- it happens frequently). I mean't the SGV; we're neighbor-inos. I think you'd be fine to purchase transplants at a nursery, a hardware store, or even walmart. Also, you can repurpose containers- my peppers are growing in kitty litter tubs, lol!

  • @nevroth Hey neighor! I'm in Covina.. Which nursery do you purchase your transplants?. Can you recommend a good one?

    Peace

  • i tried growing peppers in containers for the first time this year in coastal sc and i just had no luck at all.

  • I apply Miricle Grow 20-20-20 every two weeks. They are trully with the extra care to have nice thick skin and no age wrinkles that you find in the store.

  • @DonPickett HI DON I USE MIRICLE GROW ORGANIC CHOICE ,I LIVE IN POINCIANA FL, POLK COUNTY NEAR ORLANDO, I REALY WANT MY BELL PEPPERS TO GROW AS TALL AS YOURS, WHAT CAN I DO,THIS IS MT FIRST GARDEN. DO THEY ALL GET THAT TALL IN CENTRAL FL?

  • What do you use to feed those peppers that looks so good and healthy?

  • Commercial growers do not stake. The limbs are very weak and break easily when there is a HEAVY pepper on it. So short or tall it is best to support the limbs. Remember that for a lot of growers the season is not as long as what I enjoy in Tallahassee....further south it is too hot in the Summer and further north they get a freeze earlier. My season starts in March and goes .....with a little luck into January. With the price of yellow and red peppers.....I try to protect every one of them.

  • do peppers need to be staked? i baught some seeds from burpee & nowhere on the pack does it say but i noticed you have yours supported. TYVM for sharing your knowledge ALOHA!

  • hello, i just came across your video and I was wondering how you got your pepper plants so big? Did you add anything to them? I find that when I try to grow bell peppers, they do not get to full size like when you buy them in the store. Any suggestions>

  • @djr10djr I buy my plants locally that come from Bonnie Plants. I keep them watered and fertilize with 20-20-20 Miricle Grow about every two weeks. The plants on the South end of the rows are the ones that grow tall. Most of the peppers are nice size and have a thick skin.

  • great work. ihope i have better luck with my peppers tis year..
