  • RSPCA have been informed. That gerbil must be well sad being on it's own and cold from not having any bedding or anything to burrow with. It's obese as well

  • Damnn Thatss The Biggest Gerbil i Ever Seen ! : )

  • he looks like my Meesie (Omega)!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he looks sick you should take him to a vet

  • @WarriorLegoGerbils Gerbils fluff up like that when cold or stressed. Maybe adding some gerbil sand would solve that. Otherwise he's most likely an older gerbil.

  • What kind is that gerbil? Is it siamese?

  • @Bunnylov3455 Burmese

  • he is kind a big for a gerbil but very cute :D

  • he looks himalayan, he is a gorgeous colour though, does he have a friend? i have gerbils too, i even breed them theyre so cute :D i want a himalayan gerbil i have never had one before

  • he looks himalayan, he is a gorgeous colour though, does he have a friend? i have gerbils too, i even breed them theyre so cute :D

  • thers bedding hes on the second floor

  • :O my gerbils were called bart and homer haha homer was the white/grey one too :) wierd

  • he's cute

he looks kind of sick, but maybe he's just tired!

a tank is better than a cage ;) a tank will let him burrow! :D

whats his color? he looks kind of Siamese :]

  • okay.. its really fat :D

    but i like gerbils =)

  • that's a gorgeous gerbil!

  • Warning, i delete any comment now tht is full of bullshit!! so dont bother!!

  • lol my gerbil Storm (grey color) is fatter than that lol mine looks like a baby chinchilla except bigger

  • omg thats a siamese gerbil theyre very rare colour sell him and u will be rich im not saying sell him though gerbils are lovely pets by all means keep him

  • Lol. Are you watching neighbours?

  • erm thanks for the advise!! wish we had known about the burrowing, we didnt put any sawdust or tissue in at all!!!!!! poor little thing must have been so unhappy sleeping on a cold floor and with nothing to do all day long!!

  • Holy crap! You didn't put any bedding or toys in there! He must've been miserable! He didn't even have a friend that poor little guy of course you are supposed to have bedding didn't you even research anything about gerbils before GETTING one?!?!?! THAT POOR LITTLE GERBIE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh dear!! how sarcasm is wasting on the special few!!

i wondered how long it would be till some idiot took that comment seriously!!

you can see the bedding and sawdust in the god damn video!!

oooops, we didnt even give him a water bottle ..... (waiting)

  • well i am sorry but i didn't notice the sarcasm in the comment...i apologize, i am just protective over gerbils. and i didn't see the bedding in the video, my eyes were locked on your cute gerbil! but you didn't have to yell at me for trying to be protective, even though i yelled at you...haha. anyway, homer's a cutie and i think he has a good home :D

  • @stacedelinc2 Homer looks so cute, suggestion try cereal boxes and inner toilet roll tubes also half of a coconut shell for extra fun.

  • @stacedelinc2 Homer looks so gorgous, what sort of gerbil is he? Mine used to love card board boxes, inner toilet roll tubes and a half coconut shell well as occasional treats.

  • @Louise1757 the colouration is known as Burmese. Siamese are much darker and have more prominant markings. Burmese are cream and have little dark brown faces, feet and tails. Coconuts are the only material i've found so far that gerbils can't seem to destroy. Cut holes into the carboard boxes and then stick the toilet tubes in them, make pirate ships and such XD

  • @ScratchingOnTheWall Mine used to love fresh cleaned apple tree sticks, and treat sticks!

  • osanka is right, bar cages are bad. For the sides it's supposed to be fine, but they need a secure bottom, plus, gerbils really love to burrow, just don't get pine bedding (DEADLY, even though they put nothing on the packages)

  • Pine shavings being deadly is a myth. I use to think it was the case too but then I researched up on it (not using random pet websites I mean books) - It's not lethal that is why the packaging doesn't mention it.

  • Dude, my freaking gerbil died from respitory inffection from pine bedding, so don't you dare tell me it's just a myth because it's not. It's not business, it's personal.

  • That infection could have come from anything you know. But it is rare for pine to actually cause infections if it is dust extracted. I have read actual papers on it to check this before I posted it, you seem to be going off of one incident.

You won't change your opinion though and I won't either, so we might as well leave it at that.

  • No, I won't.

  • The infections are not cause by dust, are caused by the gases the wood has in its own composition. Humans cannot percept it, but in little animal it causes hepatic, respitory, renal problems...

If you really love your gerbils, take care of them and use Corncob instead of pine, please, it's important for the health of these little animals.

The AGS says so, I'm not inventing anything.

  • i always get the fluffy bedding, usually uncolored.

  • they dont care. they are okay with it.

  • that gerbil is chubby and cute love the color

  • mine is more fatty. :3

  • you don't know anything about gerbils do you?

,you absolutely NEVER!! have them in a cages of bars they can get there feet trapped and they can get sores, on there feet and it can cause them some serious pain but u don't think like that do you?

  • 10 gerbils, 10 cages with bars, 30 years overall for all gerbils, no injuries, no feet sores!!

  • I have gerbils and never had sore feet due to bars on their cages. What they can get is bumblefoot but I find that putting cardboard on the main floors prevents anything like that.

  • dont use wire because they can get there legs cought in it and they can get sores on there feet and they also like lots of bedding that burro and nest in

  • has he od'd on sunflower seeds? :-)

  • Your hamster is fat

  • thats not a hamster its a gerbil and most white gerbils are fat i have a white 1 and hes like 2 tons

  • he looks like my gerbil and why do all white gerbils look so depressed?

  • my white gerbil looks like he is on super anti-depressants... he has some sort of huge smile...

  • roflmfao thts freakin hilarious r you serious my gerbil looks so depressed to me all white gerbils r depressed

  • my grey gerbil looks fat and depressed but when u put him upside down u see a huge smile on him too... it makes u laugh ur head off when u see it lol

  • im getting my gerbil a girlfriend tommorow he kind of fat and chewing on toilet tube all day long

  • A gerbil CAN be alone but SHOULDNT be alone. Alot of owners don't have the time or attention to keep a gerbil company, and even if they do it IS better to have at least two because they DO get lonely after a while. Gerbils need some company and if you don't have all the time in the world to play with them and such then it is better to have two.

  • WOAH!! LOL BUY A Rolling Balll

She needs to lay off the seeds lmao

  • =0 thats tha fatest gerble iv ever seen lol but vary cute

  • haha fatty lol verry cute, my first 2 I had one lived till 6 years and the othere till 7, i dont like the cage you hav thoe the bars on the flore can be hard on there feet

  • aww he's so cute!! the fat ones are always the cutest ^^ he's 5 ?? holy crap!! mine are coming up on 4 years, i think

  • nice to have some nice comments on here again, which is how it should be!!

its just a nice video of a well looked after gerbil that shouldnt really cause arguements!!

    peace and love x

  • beautiful gerbil... I am glad he has a good home.

  • yeah i know... he was ancient!

  • I am the person who bought Homer - coz he was alone in a petshop for over a month in bad condition. We gave him a loving home which was a million times better than the shop. I'm sick of reading all the comments from know-it-all dicks when you dont even know us. How can you tell how well we care for our gerbils from a short video. We know exactly how gerbils need to be homed and fed so keep your smart arse comments to yourselves and tell them to someone who actually does mistreat animals.

  • what is it with people coming on here and telling us how to keep our bloody gerbil!

il tell you a wee story! the 1st gerbils my family got were a pair, happy yes! but when 1 died t'other pined for her, didnt eat or drink and died 2 wks later!

not wanting this to happen again, ever since we have only had single gerbils! 8 in all and every single one of them has in no doubt been happy! they had plenty of attention off 3 kids and 2 adults tht loved and cared for them!

    STOP LEAVING ADVISE

  • ahh..yes, but one more thing......EXACTLY HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR GERBIL IS HAPPY? HUH? HUH? NO, YOU DON´T! IT´S NOT AS IF GERBILS CAN SAY THEY´RE HAPPY! OR HAVE A NICE BIG SMILE ACCROSS THERE FACE!!!!! AND 8 GERBILS IN THE SAME TANK IS TOO MUCH! (pups don´t count)

  • erm i am nay quite sure whether this is a piss take as i dont believe tht someone can be so stupid!!!!

can you tell when they are unhappy then??

and we didnt keep 8 in a cage - read the damn comment properly before replying and showing yourself up in the future.!!

  • poor baby needs a wheel and cover the wire floor No more sunflower seeds. They only live 4 years and get diabetes easily. He's a beautiful color.

  • he did have a wheel!!! why cover the wire floor?? u cnt stop a gerbil eating and 4 years is pushing it a tad!!!

homer passed away after 1 1/2 years due to having a bastard tumor!!!

  • 4 years is pushing nothing. my samwise lived to 5. a steady diet of oats and plenty of excersize... he pretty much owned the couch for a while. :)

  • Haha mi gerbil is f@ 2!! His name is Oreo. U did name urs after Homer Simpson right?

  • haha my gerbils name is homer too! and he is pretty big :P
