Now, I'm scared!!!!... if I ever need a lawyer!!! Aren't they supposed to learn all of this in Law School? Theories, Strategies, Picking a Jury? Is this not stuff they go over in class? ....Seriously? Seems as if I should ever need a lawyer, knock on wood, I should be/ need to be researching for him on youtube to make sure I have a fair trial! Why are they giving out these degrees if this is, what I assume to be, JUST the basic thing about Law & Trial? OMG!!! That's all I can say! OMG!!!
Your post implies that you choose to remain willfully ignorant.
I feel that setting in court like an empty bag of air, cast a dark cloud. because everything and every participant is highly scrutinized. a more knowledgeable and professional appearance commands respect, it helps to understand that process and know what to expect next.
@kimtp29 You get thought about the law and how to analyze the law in law school. But anyone, in any profession, who thinks that they don't need to get additional advise beyond what they know, or think they know, is kind of a fool. I would be more scared of a lawyer who knows a lot, but thinks he knows it all and doesn't seek out new information, than a lawyer who knows little, but knows he knows little and seeks out additional information.
@kimtp29 He started off telling us that scripts exists, his method is to engage the jurors in unscripted conversation, to make the jurors feel more comforatable about opening up and talking, inferring that you can determine more about a person's prejudices by getting them to volunteer more information.
Being able to analyze a person's presentation is very much like analyzing your opponents case. You have to listen very carefully to what's being said and respond in a timely manner.
