Similar concept to brake boosting but it uses the torque converter to give you a boosted launch. It raises the pump pressure (the converter) and gives you greater launch power at an rpm above idle, say 2500 rpm. Someone can feel free to correct me here too.
As for the Yukon, was GM's torque management tuned out of the computer? With that gone it could make a difference.
