that was the beauty of the gong show. it wasn't to find real talent. it was a vehicle for the comedy of the judges and chuck . and whenever you see chuckie baby wearing his hat and it's pulled down over his eyes, he was coked outta his mind. it was the funniest stuff on the television. gong beat out all the soaps that played opposite them for i think 5 years in a row. and we all remember the grand prize.
