Its a lot more drawing based, rather than photo editing and manipulation. Its used to create vector images etc.

@Louisa911 Photoshop is far superior to Illustrator, only advantage Illustrator has is its vector based, meaning you can increase or decrease size without loosing quality. Photoshop on the other hand is pixel based and has far more vercetitily and allows you to do far greater things than illustrator. Let me see you render in Illustrator?
