This is from the 6th inning of the Aug 21,1968 game...Mays would walk...#9 is catcher JC Martin...#45 is pitcher Billy Connors, who would serve 3 terms as Yankee pitching coach...he threw a wild pitch during this at bat.
@jackierobinsonfan Research on Retrosheet and Ultimate Mets database.Narrowing the search to games Mays homered at Shea as a Giant.Cosschecking team rosters and uni #s etc.
@Coastergeekperson04 Nah!! I"m just a nut who enjoys finding clips like this and figuring when they happenned.I've learned that just prior to this Mays' AB, someone called NYPD claiming there was a bomb in one of the Shea dugouts. Both teams emptied out onto the field and play was delayed 10 minutes while a search found nothing.Credit to Retrosheet,Mark Donohue's fan memory at Ultimate Mets Database, and a UPI report from the Watertown Daily Times.USSR began crushing Prague spring that morning.
Saw Willie Mays play in the polo grounds against the Mets in 1962 one of my best memories of childhood

What source is this from? Do you have part of the rest of the game? Odd, that this would be the only surviving segment.
