into some certain extent maybe that's true. but what might be more superior to each other in this era is when they have the veto voice in UN or make a big decision where no other party can stop them. no one could stop US from attacking Iraq. so later when china become stronger than US, no one can stop china's policy, especially the current issue on tibet, xinjiang & taiwan. something like that i guess ...

@kymjinsha: the comparison is not accurate. At least Tibet and Xinjiang are INTERNAL regions of the PRC, and we know of UN policy. and wrt Taiwan, the cross-strait relations are currently improving. It would take a bold Pan-Green radical as President to declare independence. at least it is part of the same region of the world, unlike the US, which is a big octopus in exerting military force/might around the world.
