@LateinerRomulus I apologize for my hurried and mistaken reply from this morning. Powell is the violinist/arranger. Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was an Afro-British composer,as you know. Deep River was 1 of his Twenty-Four Negro Melodies, Op.59. I copied the title/compser as it was listed. I should have, and will, put a slash between Taylor and Powell. Sorry for my ignorance. Did he compose the tune or collect it and incorporate it? Maud is fantastic. Thanks for listening.
@2ndviolinist Thank you for writing again. Coleridge collect the piece, which is afro-american originally, and composed a paraphrase on it. I like Maud's interpretation, too.
