I love this opera--its so fantastic, kitch, macabre, slavic, otherwordly, oriental---and of course the Queen of Shamakha's Hymn to the Sun is a wonderful guilty pleasure. Love her exotic gown/hair--and of couse Ms. Kohutkova sings divinely. The Queen, by the way, is opera's version of Mae West--so fellas--watch out!!

She is fabulous! I'm learning this aria now, and listening to her perfect performance is helping me with my Russian and my lyricism.

I must admit that I had never listened to this opera, though I read about it 3 years ago. It seems to be a very difficult role, am I right? But our beautiful Adriana is perfect, always! Thank you so much for posting, BB01... Hugs from São Paulo, Brazil.
