I was there in 65 company 494 . Company Camander Chief Carpenter. There's somethings you never forget. graduated in November. Brings back fond memories of my youth. Good old days. Thanks for the memories
324-66 I guess I was in the middle of all of it. First two weeks was ' what have I've gotten myself into'. Once settled in it became more like I belonged their. Great times with some really great people.
I was in Company 336 1956 in San Diego. I was in boot camp from July to September. I think I graduated on September 25, 1956 and I participated in in several graduations. I remember carrying the old 1903 Springfield everywhere I went and doing brigade drills with it until it got so heavy I could hardly lift it.
Boy, what memories. I was there, company 020 beginning Jan 3rd, 1966. My company would have graduated with the "rag" (cloth company flag) .. we did not win a single competition that would have given us a "silk" flag hehehehe .. It was only because of graduation that we got the silk 020. I remember our CC was so mad he cut all of our cigarette packs diagonally from corner to corner than made us throw them in the dumpster. the company below us saved as many as they could.
Enjoyed this video, I was in Co. 098 in 1963, the Meninjitis thing was just getting started, a lot of scrubbing barricks and thaking pills every night. I stayed in 5 years, liked it.
I was there starting April 21,1966." It was the best of times. ..." anyone remember hearing about a playboy bunny? We had a guy whose sister worked at the club in Chicago. We had a great time on the day she visited with friends. I was the co mail PO. Neal Poquette (Pokey)
Surprised to find this video. I was in 440 at that time. Stumbled on to this. brings back alot of memories. One thing I miss was my graduation book. I lost it somehow. what was your name? I remember you but a long time ago. Thanks, John Ingels
Thanks for posting.Sure brings back memorys. Was there Sep-Nov 1969.Company 631.I remember thinking it was pretty easy, just had to listen. Some in our group were either 'slow' or stuburn and was like watching Gomer and Sargent Carter.Once I missed shaving three tiny hairs in my chin dimple.Had to do some pushups but was worth it to here the funny rants and raves. They couldn't touch us but would try to get their point across verbally in a colorful way.Hanging dungeries had to have fly towards USMC
I was there starting late July 1963, Company 297. We didn't have to do our own laundry because of meningitis scare - they were graduating companies quickly to get them out of there, but our company had to do an extra week of service because of low number of swabbies to do mess hall service.
It was 66-401 company that was hit by the car. I was knocked to my knees as it went through from behind and continued through to hit a guard rail pinning two sailors beneath it. The recruits lifter the car to get them out. No one was killed, but a few got discharged. What a start to my naval training.
Hey Ya'll I was there from May 85 thru Aug 85. Nothing had changed from your time to mine as far as the boot camp goes. Now the base is closed along with Orlando. Now I'm a retired chief, thank you all for your past service and for paving our way in. All the crap you guys went through helped make things better for my generation. Aloha
I arrived San Diego boot camp April 25,1966 and graduated June 24th. So I was there overlapping with NcicHit. Does anyone remember the meninjitis epidemic that summer. We had to take lots of meds and were really worried about coming down with it.
Actually we were one of the first companies there and we didn't start training till we have been there about three weeks. That 9-9 day was a long time coming or so it seemed.
