This track is amazing. When I was younger I always awaited the arrival into Castlevania with a mix of dread and excitement because this song both exhilarated and terrified me.
I remember hearing this the first time, and it was very eerie because you're in the ruins of Castlevania and there's nothing there at all, but the music makes you feel like the gloom is slowly overtaking you.
I wouldn't go as far as call it shitty. Admittingly, jumping was a huge chore to get used to, there wasn't enough explanation on what you had to do next, and the bosses were few, laughable, and poorly executed. Aside from that, the rest of the game was actually pretty good from my viewpoint.
what pissed me off about the dracula battle was that if he kills you, you have to walk through the whole fucking castle all over again. the AVGN was right about this game. as easy as dracula is, this games not worth playing all the way through unless your very bored
You know, it's funny how 8bit music can sound much creepier than most tracks with actual instraments. Maybe it's because the music sounds less... human, and more of a droning soulless sound?
Castlevania 2 owned, and Kenichi Matsubara is a great composer.
With adversity comes inspiration. The days of the NES was simply a rare gathering of geniuses that were challenged by the limitations of their equipment to produce some of the most heart-felt music in the industry.
i loved this song when i played that game i would just stand there so i could hear it longer

Easily one of my favorite tunes in video gaming history. And I'm literally playing Sonic 2 right behind me as I type this. This is greatness

Simon Belmont should be in a Smash Brothers games while Dracula should be a final boss

I think Simon's Quest came really close to being a great game. It just implemented good ideas extremely poorly."
The music is totally top notch though. Especially this track. Perfect for Halloween.

All the problems with the controls aside, this game was fucking ridiculously hard.

The Megaman series and the Castlevania series really pushed NES sound capabilities to the limits with their awesome songs.
Compare this stuff to that stupid "song" from the first Terminator game.
