Jive's count for rock step is 1 2, for left/right chase is 1 & 2

And with this "technic" of rock step you will kill yours partner with the knee

Saying "jive is like swing but faster" is like saying "I know nothing about swing". People - check out lindy hop for a real dance that people really dance at real dances.

In France, we learn dancing with this footwork and for us

this is the academic rock'n roll. For us, we dance Lindy Hop in 8

and jive mostly in 6.

Lmao, you people don't understand how hard jivea is. I'm currently dancing gold in Latin. For jive that is just the first thing you ever learn. But it is EXTREMELY difficult to make it look good. The count is like 10 times faster than how he says it, and plus you need a lot of hip action and to raise the foot. Also, you need to put your foot on the boule("tippy toe") on the first step of the triple steps. But hey, it is just for beginners :p

Ya but you gotta be able to tell the difference between jive and TRIPLE JIVE!!! The dance you did was Triple Jive!!

ok. gotta say. THIS IS JIVE. latin jive as well as the jive destroying the ORIGINAL form Jitterbug herralded from lind hop. and to correct him, Jive is NOT swing dancing and for sure not to be confused with the MUCH faster Boogie Woogie dance.

This is a 6 count step used in several swing dances (and Jive comes from Lindy Hop despite being counted as Latino in Ballroom dancing).

The exact rythm might differ but its still "Rock step, step, chassé, chassé.

Some even have the rock step last in Jive but thats another question alltogether.

ya okay this guy is not doing jive. This is TRIPLE SWING. The triple swing basic has triple step syncopation with a rock step

Sure he said that but it doesn't mean he is right. In international ballroom, what he is doing is east coast swing or triple swing. True jive has double beat syncopation as oppose to triple and it doesn't use cuban or latin motion, Therefore it is two double steps followed by a rock step and it is danced a heck of a lot faster than triple swing.
