just fix your laser, i've done it three times now, an idiot can do it.  Open up your box, disassemble the outer shell and screws, unplug the SATA adnd DATA cable from your disc try, open up your disc tray and with a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol wipe off the laser, and then reassemble and it'll work fine. Its just dirty

i think it might be something else because with my old xbox i understand it just said open tray but with this one it says that but when i load the disc it sounds like its not even reading it. Like something is stopping it. but ill give it a try

yeah, mine used to make 3 attempts at reading, (kind of a scrating noise), then stopped spinning and said open tray. I cleaned the laser and it worked fine, there is a lot of dust where i live

I tried that then actually figured out the real problem. Its the rods inside. It doesn't let the laser read the disc at all. Its basically not lubed up. so now I need to go look for the proper oil. :p
