i think we saved a couple of kids. we live in the country. about 3 years ago, this pit kept coming onto our property, i think looking for our dog. one day my husband waited for him with the 45. sure enough he came by. he had to empty all 6 shots in him, but he won't be around again. we tossed the carcass in the road then animal control picked it up the next day. we are living in peace once again.

Thanks Jelet55 , took the words right out of my mouth. Pit Bulls instincts are to fight, they can and do so willingly, you can't train/socialize out 150 years of selective breeding for pit fighting. If I was talking with someone he would stand between us. It was in his nature to guard and would do so with his life without hesitation.

Thanks Jelet55 , took the words right out of my mouth. Pit Bulls instincts are to fight, they can and do so willingly, you can't train/socialize out 150 years of selective breeding for pit fighting. Remember, some dogs have it, others don't. To rule out though to not expect a bulldog/terrier to fight is ignorant. They both as seperate breeds are inherintly dog aggressive and were bred for specific purposes.

ashezz14 - What is so hard for you to understand that dog aggression is in their genetics! They come from 2 very animal aggressive breeds. Bulldogs and Terriers. They were both crossed for 1 reason, to fight in the pit...you can't exclude 150+ years of selective dog breeding to fight in the pit.

people dont realise that all pitbulls dont like to fight. They can fight because of their genetic heritage but not all go out of their way to fight. there are some game lines of pitbulls that are naturally dog agressive because of generations of being bred to fight but most pitbulls will not show unprovoked agression towards another dog.

All dogs live on instict. I owned a Chinese Shar Pei (bred for fighting, guarding , even wild game hunting) that was very doscile, but without training him he instinctivly guard me while out on walks. If he was on the right of me and someone was coming up on the left he would cross over and take lead, if that person tried to move to the other side he would. If I was talking with someone he would stand between us. It was in his nature to guard and would do so with his life without hesitation.

i own a pit. ive read strattons books. im aware of colby. bought a dog from and 'old school fighting man' in north carolina who had ties to colby. she is sitting beside me now and is 9 (ive had her since she was a pup). i would cut off my index finger before i would let her fight. she much prefers a peaceful existence. i can assure you.

i took some time to look at your page and it seems that you care about dogs. i would encourage you to investigate more about what you label a good old school dogmen vs 'street'. they are both bad for dogs and both bad for pits in particularl. if we want the breed to continue, we must keep them as pets, rather than weapons, or sport, or money making machines. they are very happy to be in a loving household, without any other entanglements. like most other dogs. and thats all they need to do

werent they bred to round cows up in fields so they cud grab the cows snout and stop them to take em back to the field but this did not hurt the cow i dnt knw im no expert i just read it dnt knw if true but apparently they have a low pain threshold when hit and they did some tests where they r adapted to keep something in their mouths even after ther r dead n they have sumthing in the mouth it wnt let go but theres also arguments they get lock jaw
