Amanda, I missed you on diva speak. I haven't seen Precious or read the book but now I have to. As far as the comment about the scene where the mother is verbally abusive to her "fat" daughter, I can only imagine the immaturity of the crowd laughing at such a thing. So many of us are desensitized to the fact that making fun of people who are overweight needs to stop. All the media messages about weight- losing it or gaining it because you're "too skinny" "too fat" etc.- our culture is sick.

i agree that we shouldnt be at war but he never said he was anti war....he repeatedly said he was against the "Iraq" war and in the next breath he always stated that Afghanistan was where we should be fighting..

your right I don't believe he ever said derectly that he was anti War; but early on I don't remember him speeking about Afghanistan at all, and I barely remember him coming out and ever say "we should not be in Iraq" I do remember every time I heard him or any other democratic candidate speek that was not ether Gravel or Kucinitch it seemed they were paiving the way along with bush to invade Iran and stay in and continue with Afghanistan.
