@BuzzKill2012 Yes,Mazdas are among the most reliable cars. The Miata, for instance, usually gets the top reliability rating from Consumer Reports. And if you look at TUV-Report, which is a reliability rating report out ofGermany, Mazdas are often in their top ten most reliable cars.
@BuzzKill2012 They are: The Miata often gets the top reliability rating from Consumer Reports, and Mazdas are often in the top ten most reliable cars according to TUV-Report, the reliability rating program out of Germany.
This 2.0L gas engine will get phenomenal fuel economy, and by design it has more low end torque than any other 2.0 naturally aspirated gas engine. The torque is concentrated in the middle of the rev range, not the top end, thus when peak HP is calculated, it's numerically average (155hp).
The twin-turbo 2.2L skyactiv diesel should reach north american shores shortly after.
It has 310ft/lbs of torque, about double of the torque of an industry standard gas engine & gets hybrid-like economy
@forkliftninjaz It should be 155hp. But unlike the one in the 2012 Mazda3, it should have about 160 ft/lbs of torque in the CX-5 (compared to 148 ft/lbs on the 3).
This guy was no Tom. And he used "although" a bit too much in his review. Otherwise, it was a good short highlight of the Mazda. I think the lack of HP will keep me from getting it though.
what sets consumer reports apart is that 1. they buy the cars to test them 2. their reviewers are engineers or have a technical background. 3. they review cars unlike others (notably British "car reviewers"). If you want entertainment go to somewhere else.
this guy talks like he was forced to do it. i was expecting Tom to do the review or Jake.
this car looks ok, but what turns me off is the engine. so he is right about the passing power and the noise as well. its understandable when they speak about fuel economy, but cmon, dont put a 4cyl on a big car. specially if you are willing to put 5 ppl in the car. how many people buys it. the highlander has a 4cyl as well and the Sienna too, but they arent that popular. people prefer the v6.
so consumer reports buy their own car than test them. consumer report kind awesome in many ways, they don't seem to bias toward particular car whether Japan, European, or American
um...curiosity question. Do you guys work with the IIHS so that you can save money because this is my idea. If you work with the IIHS, you can share the money used to pay off the car(s) and since the IIHS uses more than one to test, you can test nearly a range of models. You'll be able to test differences and after you finish using them, you can give then to the IIHS to test. Do you get me?
@WhiteIceMan3 I think the IIHS uses stripped down models, like no electronic works, and car would not even start, and there is no fluids in the engine. just all mechanical components and weight. Consumer report uses leather interior, navi etc. Plus car manufacture supply IIHS with those cars and IIHS don't pay for them.

@contractki11er Hyundai's design language is more of a "copy bits from everyone else's concept and production cars and then average it all out"
