Quit buggin her about a helmet! I personally don't think a helmet is neccessary unless you have a crazy horse. If you have a good horse and good skill you should be fine! Really, bad horse accidents actually aren't based at the head, mostly neck, shoulders , chest. Body protectors usually don't do much, either. Most accidents like that are just freak. I never have worn a helmet, never will. Helmets are NOT necc., it's your skill and horse that determine if you will fall or get hurt.
@PawPrintsinRedClay i personally don't feel comfortable on a horse w/o a helmet and always wear one when I ride my own horse, even though she's dead broke and I've owned her for 8 years. it doesn't really come down to skill or the horse - it's a personal choice and a matter of principle to me.
@PawPrintsinRedClay NOT TRUE!!! NO-ONE IS GOOD ENOUGH TO NOT WEAR A HAT!!!! LOOK AT THE PROFFESIONALS PEOPLE DIE!!!! OR GET SERIOUSLY INJURED!!!!! EVEN THE BEST HORSES ARE NAUGHTY AND A HORSE CAN FALL BY ACCIDENT AND LAND ON YOU!!!!!!!1 SO UNLESS YOU WANNA END UP IN A COFFIN OR WHEELCHAIR I WOULD WEAR A HAT!!!!!!!!!!!11
Seriously its the riders choice, of course it would be smart to wear a helmet, but you have no control over what anyone does with their horse, or them selves, and I'm thinking they already know they should wear a helmet. They had a trainer and I'm sure he warned them, but its ultimatly their choice. Even if they had fallen off and gotten hurt there were people there to call for help. So stop making such a big deal out of it. What you do for saftey is great for you, but maybe not for others.
I hate seeing people riding without helmets and I would never do it myself, but at the end of the day it's their personal choice and I can't tell them what to do. I just feel sorry for them, because they obviously don't realise how much a head injury could change their life and the lives of the people who love them.
@bellahorse151 Really? Never heard of that kind of practice around here. I've seen special blue dye put into a distance jump at a show jumping competition though. Are you sure it's toilet cleaner, couldn't it harm the horses?
@bellahorse151 well i have blue toilet cleaner at my house so for one i know it smells like it but if they out it in there then that must mean it couldn't be bad for the horses and anyways i wasn't the best when i started so i lost attention really fast i fell becuase i slipped offf and wans't holding the reins properly, and my stirrups were breaking loose, but my horse didn't, she got a little scrape on the hind quarter.
Yeah actually you do always need to wear a helmet well except of course if you want to fall off and not be okayy after. Esp. out cross country. Jesus like
That looks like a lot of fun, but the water almost seems too deep to be jumping into. I don't know if you know, but water for eventing cannot be more than 14'' or so deep, so the water your friends were jumping into is pretty deep. I would be a little worried about the effect of water on your horses' balance.
Besides that small point, I thought that looked like a lot of fun! And kudos to you for always wearing a helmet, you've obviously got a good head on your shoulders =)
omg pplz u dont always need to wear a freakin helmet like shesh. i dont wear helmets only when im in a compotishion(i dont know how to spell the last word sry lol)
the right spelling would be 'compEtiTion'. so do you ride some kind of western or high level dressage? i'm personally a real helmet patriot and i think a hat can save your life in a sticky situation. but nobody can really make you wear it if you don't want to so whatever.
OMG I hate it when people go on saying wear a hat and body protector! Yes, if you were out on a hunt or something yeh wear a hat but doing everyday stuff you don't really need one! And body protectors, I think they're useless! If your gonna fall off then you're gonna fall off -- It happens!, They're horses for god's sake! If you're gonna have a horse learn to fall off and deal with it! I only wear one coz its the rules on our yard! =( Gd vid btw.
well i can't say i didn't think like you when *I* was 13. but by now i have done a lot of falling with and without helmets and a helmet does makes a difference. sometimes a life or death difference. i'm a shy rider so i always wear my helmet these days. In my oppinion the simple rule is if you plan on falling off, wear a helmet. If you plan on falling off at great speeds wear a body protector. yeah, their horses and yeah it happens, but so do car crashes. don't take your life too lightly.
omg all i'm doing is trying to save your life n you have a go at me. just because other people don't wear helmets dunt make it right. i mean are you stupid everyone knows you shud wear a helmet, all you have to do is fall off and you could be dead.
omg!!! u stil cant sp ell!!! anyway, here's a copy-paste from a reply i posted to a comment on this very video: "I'M not in the video, I'M filming. so FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME - I always wear a helmet when i ride. ALWAYS! I'm the most dedicated helmet patriot in the world, but I can't be held responsible if others chose do go without. The girls jumping are aware of the risks so leave it alone already!" start to get the drift why i'm a little annoyed?
oh any by the way, i'm actually more annoyed by your nonexistent writing ability then your comment about the helmets because i'm with you on that issue. so i hope that clarifies the subject of WHY i 'had a go' at you a little. See my other videos for more snarky comments :D
person in th red needs to work on her seat, she is really bouncing, and helmets are a good idea! esspeshially for jumping! but good job for the horses, they did good!
i am really tired of replying to comments like that over and over again. FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME - I always wear a helmet when i ride. ALWAYS! I'm the most dedicated helmet patriot in the world, but I can't be held responsible if others chose do go without. The girls jumping are aware of the risks so leave it alone already!
Yeah I rode for a long time without a helmet even jumped without one for a while. So what can I say at least they would have landed in the water LOL!! But yeah I think they looked great if they had been too far forward then the moment and the ability of the water to STOP that moment would have resulted in them drinking the water!1 And since they are still on then hey they must have done all right! You guys I THINK are pretty darn good. SMOOOTH!
I'm sorry i didn't read all the other posts, but i just wanted to say, that the people who said they should lean forward were wrong, when you are jumpingn down, you lean back and release (as the ladies in the video did) good job! although I agree with most people about the lack of helmets!
They are jumping down hill and its not very high so there positions are excellent. You don't want to put too much weight on your horses neck at any time, especially when you're riding down hill.
and apparently you're retarded. I'M not in the video, i'm filming. I always wear a helmet when I ride as I have pointed out on several occasions. also - for heaven's sake, learn to spell! your sentences make no sense whatsoever!
You definitly don't need to lean forward more, both girls in this have good position over the jump, if you lean forward any more you risk throwing your horse off balance. You both look good and your horses are benefitting.
That looked like a lot of fun and you all looked pretty good though I have to agree about the helmets. i forget sometimes myself though so I can preach!! lol
