Get your facts straight. In Iceland we do not hunt any endangered species. The only whale that is hunted here is minke whale, and only in very small numbers. Minke whale is far from extinction.

the sun sets in rekyjavik on 21st june at 0004 and rises at about 0255ish i believe. it doesnt go o ut of civil twilight for almost 3 full months but from early august onwards, it begins to decline extremely rapidly. It is beautiful and i hope to get to see iceland one day.

I would find it unusual too. I'm from England and June is our lightest month when the sun will set at about 21:45 and rise at 4:30am. So it's still dark at night for a good 6 hours.

the sun sets in rekyjavik on 21st june at 0004 and rises at about 0255ish i believe. it doesnt go o ut of civil twilight for almost 3 full months but from early august onwards, it begins to decline extremely rapidly. It is beautiful and i hope to get to see iceland one day.

Due to the earth's tilt of around 23°, the sun spends more time in the northern hemisphere in the summer, and less time in the northern hemisphere in the winter. That's how seasons work. When it's light all night in mid-summer in Iceland, it's because the sun is shining directly above the Northern hemisphere on the other side of the earth. Hence the variation in length of daylight hours between summer and winter is directly proportional to latitude.

im from toronto i will be in the street naked on winter those tempertures are nothing compare to the ones we have here i will visit iceland soon it seems a such a nice place to stay

we had some friends come over to iceland from denmark and they wore theyr winter clothes in the summer... not on a bright sunny day but you know in the late evening.... and we go sunbathing when it's like 15 ° outside hahaha

cool, is this summer or winter? cuz where i live, during the summer, it is sunny from 5:00am - 8:00 pm ish and during winter its sunny from 6:30 am - 5:00pm

winter... in july it doesn't get dark at all, although the sun does set, it is just like bright sky.

Why are people ripping on her for being American and finding it unusual to see sunlight and people still partying hard at 3:00 am? I don't know of any other country where the clubs close at 7:00 am. It's completely natural for her to find it weird. I sure hope the people ripping on tourists aren't Icelandic. I welcome anyone with an open mind interested in coming here for a visit!

I would find it unusual too. I'm from England and June is our lightest month when the sun will set at about 21:45 and rise at 4:30am. So it's still dark at night for a good 6 hours.
I would be astonished by it too! I can't wait to visit Iceland by the way.

Why dont you just travel "up the road" to your fellow country neighbour Scotland? Sunsets around midnight twilight for an hour or so then daylight again. And certainly not as chilly as Iceland

What?!? Just because something is new to someone doesn't mean you have to get pissed off. Where I live it's dark at 3 am and NO ONE is outside, so this would be a pretty big shock to me as well. (and you call us arrogant!)
