The character animation is a little too literalist, kind of like some of Bakshi's lesser movies, and the CG's a bit intrusive.

The backgrounds are very nice, though, and it does seem to have good atmosphere.

@rcarlson1993 it looks like Bakshi because they both used rotoscoping. They filmed actual humans and traced over them. It's a lot of work, but I don't think it should be nominated for an animation Oscar.

@Vrfan88 this film is not necessary to be made​with real actors. Animation is the art of make ideas in something more beautiful because it is the combination of the art of painting and film.

But because 80% of the population growth with the idea that animation is something for kids, many films of this type just not birth.

If you still don´t believe me, watch "Porco Rosso" by Hayao Miyazaki and tell me if need to be done with real actors.

I thoroughly enjoyed this animation on crtic.co.cc. the animation was very gripping and suspenseful. This is not to say that it was a perfect animation, but it was very good in general. Definitely should see it if you're into action, but not gory, animations.

Quite simply brilliant. Spell binding is too weak a phrase. The film, the music, the animation will stay with me forever. I remember at one stage it became too emotional and I simply had to turn it off and watch the second part the next night. That is quite unusual for me but this film is quite exceptional in many diverse ways. A force for love, life and music.

the animation looks really nice. it kool to see a story like this told in animation as too many people feel animation is only good for telling children's stories. this bugs me as its really not true. my favourite animated movie of all time is perfect blue, which is an amazing thriller/who done it told completely in animation. no young kid should ever see that movie as its very graphic. I'll definitely be looking out for this movie.
