  • Hey Russ,

I just got my first set of kettlebells, a pair of 10-pounders. I've been looking for exercises to try. Thanks for sharing this one.

  • @tampasifu1 Nice. This is the main one I do. I worry about doing any serious fajing-related exercises for fear of hurting the joints, so I take it pretty slow.

  • I remember when I first saw this video I was impressed with how similar the exercise was to Bak Mei kung fu's 1st internal set. I started a playlist featuring videos uploaded by my subscribers. This is one of three I chose from your channel.

  • Like the work!!!

  • Hi Goju Master.

Do you think that Kettlebells can "work" as well as "handcrafted" ishi sashi? I'd like to buy a couple of kettles but I'm not sure they can be perfectly comparable with ishi sachi... I'd like to know your opinion. Best regards. I mean... i was thinking to craft my tools but I guess that to buy a couple of Kettlebell woud be faster and even cheaper... I'd

  • @roroarro I prefer Ishi-sashi with a very thick handle...as big around as a wrist would be perfect :-)

That being said, Kettlebells are an "ok" replacement for the exercises I like to do.

    Please call me,

    Russ

  • @gojumaster Thank you vary much Russ for fast and kind reply. I got the point! If you don't mind, I'llsend you a private msg to share some material with you. (I notice that I messed around with the text above!) Bye!

  • Interesting drill. I do almost the exact same thing in the Say Mun Bagua Kuen set from Yau Kung Mun and Bak Mei.

  • Are stone locks traditionally used in Goju-ryu? I have seen them used in Peho Kun and Ngo Cho Kun. Do you do throwing, catching and flipping with them?

  • Yes, they are, but usually we hold on to them. :)

  • Do you use stone locks when training forms for example sanchin?

  • Yep, sometimes. You'll see that even this exercise is a "Sanchin" exercise, but without the "chamber".

  • Do yo you stone or iron rings?

  • I am familiar with those, but I don't know that our line has ever incorporated those into our training.
