  • @celticangel73 You can get a brand new one on Ebay for about $170

  • Where on earth did Bob go?

  • a lot of times it can be easy to cut out soda after you quit when you finally drink some it tastes nasty i hate sugar soda in the first place it makes my teeth and mouth feel gross and sugar free soda can be just as bad cause of the carbohydrates and sodium but lost 20lbs just by cutting out soda alone and changing my life style was able to lose 70 pounds in a year and a half and many other people can do it too eat right, excercise, and pray it helps a bunch :)

  • Could this help with weight gain?

  • "You can effect the expression of your genetics?"

    That doesn't even make sense

  • @Stormyphate Oh it absolutely does. So much science has come out in the last ten years...you can actually have an impact on your genetics by what you eat...I can't remember if it's Vitamin B or D..I believe it's D...but whichever one it was, affects something like 40% of your genes....We're talking billions of cells.

  • @ginny7676 Epigenetics is a huge new field but they haven't actually really proven anything to the point where it can be considered to be more then a hypothesis. I think the weight issues have to do more with people's bacterial flora. And 40%? That seems a bit drastic. You don't just get vitamin D through food, it can also be produced through sun exposure. Anyway, I was more referring to my problem with her saying the "expression of genetics" - its "the expression of genes!"

  • @Stormyphate True, true. I'm seriously just trying to recall what she said word for word about it but I cannot. I'm not entirely sure I had the right vitamin anyway, and yes I do know that D is also absorbed from sunlight...which is another reason nearly everyone is deficient...we're terrified of skin cancer. But I do 100% remember her talking about a bit of new info about some vitamin or hormone that affects most cells. Sadly she's only human, and does mis speak from time to time, *shrugs*

  • I use the GoWearFit (Bodymedia, makers of Bodybugg). It's like the bugg, but also measures your sleep. :)

  • @bishoplord How does it "measure your sleep"? Just curious!

  • Hi. Well, I'm not quite sure, but it's a feature that built into the device that senses when you're lying prone (and not moving around I guess) and then the device will start counting how long you've been lying down and how long you've been asleep. I'm assuming you'll only get this info if you subscribe to the web service, however, I don't have the watch, so I don't really know. I subscribe to the web service, so I just upload my data a couple times a day.

  • The sensor inside the Bodymedia is the same thing that's inside the Wii controllers (and the PS3 controllers).

  • OH, also, on the website under your subscription, you can define how many hours you would sleep at night (say 8 hours) and then this device will give you the actual amount that you did sleep. It's not "too" accurate, but it's pretty darn close. For example, I usually show that I've take a few steps at night when I should have been sleeping, but I guess I must have move my arm in a fashion in which the device registered the movement as if I was walking.

  • For this device to be really effective, IMO, I start my "day" from the time I wear it at night, and the take it off for a few minutes when I take my shower, put it back on after the shower, and then when I'm at work, I plug the device into the USB port of my computer, upload the data (and charges the battery), then put it back on my arm about 20 minutes later. The accountability factor is that I feel motivated to keep wearing this device to keep track of my calories burned and the steps taken..

  • gadgets don't make people accountable; THEY ARE ACCOUNTABLE @ BIRTH! without this acknowledgement, bodybuggs will only make people more efficient in their cheating, and more effective in their excuse-making!

  • @dukenthaylor Actually when you know almost exactly how many calories you burn while working out it can have a lot of advantages...but I can see where you're coming from as well.

  • ugh! MARKETING!

  • You can do the same with a good heart rate monitor as you do with a body bugg.

  • You don't need a body bugg, but it's like the difference between using a scale to weigh your food and eyeballing it. You'll get close by eyeballing but you're more accurate with the scale.

  • damn! bodybugg must work!

  • I'm getting mine from 24Hour Fitness tomorrow. CANT Wait!

  • darn!!! I want a bodybugg myself!!!

  • Holy cow, I would have loved to have been in the audience that day. I would love to have a bodybugg, but they're so dang expensive (around $400).

    p.s. Jillian rocks!

  • why is Bob on both of the dvd's??
