So much production and staging for such a Shit song , didn't anyone involved tell Rick this sucked at the time he was making it or we're they just all "Yes" men !
@thegoodvillain1 Disco Duck came out in 1976 and his follow up was Dis-Gorilla in 1977. That's probably why the Gorilla wasn't as big of a hit, (it's pretty much the same song with apes instead of ducks even word for word.)
I remember seeing this performance of "Dis-Gorilla" on TV (from "The Brady Bunch Hour"). That was the first time I heard this song and thought it sounded too much like "Disco Duck", which I liked much better and had bought the 45.
Oh My God! I have not heard this since 1976! Back in the 8th grade, we had a jukebox in our cafeteria. I thought it was a from a dream, but now I remember it clearly. I am getting old...
I remember this! He was on to a whole animal "theme" during this period. You know how record labels want to milk an idea dry. After this song he released "DiscOtter" (disco + otter) and the embarrassing "DiscoBoa" (disco + boa constrictor).
OMG I havent heard this since it was realeased! Man do I feel OLD! I loved this far more than Disco Duck - I really did think it was going to do much better.
The reason Disco Duck and Disgorilla are so funny is because they are horrible, but not any worse than any other Disco song.

This video foretold the reise of Rap and Hip-Hop. A bunch of funky apes prancing around with no musical talent.

what's the 2nd line of the chorus???....something about "a baby killer"???
btw....rick dees makes the worst songs of all-time for our entertainment pleasure or whatever word hasen't been created/degraded (enough) yet.

What the?? Disco Duck is better.... why are people applauding in sporadic places in the song?... this is retarded! But I like it...
Novaheart1998 2 years ago 2
Perhaps it wasn't a bigger hit than Disco Duck because both songs are too similar. If this one had been released first the result was different.

Was it by the early 1980's Rick Dees had his mustache shaved off?

Everything about this, from Dee's pube-stache to his "vocalizations", screams masculinity.

I'm sure Rick Dees would be delighted you said that! (no sarcasm)
