Literally fuck every other band in the world for not being this good. This song exemplifies why Interpol is Interpol. Each word of the lyrics and each instrument and each member seamlessly flowing together to make the most atmospheric, heartbreaking music I've ever heard.
I am proud to say I can bang this on my bass... after 2+ hours of pure concentration and emotion... Much respect to Carlos D., you inspire me to keep exploring my bass!!
The moment the guitar really kicks in at 3.11 always gives me chills when I listen to it.One of the most underrated and overlooked songs of Turn On The Bright Lights.
@ALXgreatlord i think its one of teir bests, but i could think of SONG SEVEN, THE SPECIALIST, WRECKING BALL, so, they are one of the best groups of all times.
great live performance but I can't help but notice how the crowd behave, its like everyone past the second row thought they were supposed to be in another concert and are going "what the fuck is this?!"

yeah good for you, we all can speak dozens of languages when we are comfortly placed in our armchairs behind the screen. judging by your writing, you haven't even mastered english yet. You are just a retarded freak of nature.
i sort of know what you mean his voice doesn't usually sound as good live, but i think track in an exception. he probably sounds better here than on the album version
I know right? Definitely their best two songs in my opinion, I only wish that they had played the chorus twice before transitioning in The New. Love the "My heart's been breaking" part.
These guys are most definitely influenced by The Cure and especially Joy Division. With out a doubt, the bass lines are eerily reminiscent of Joy Division.I still like them though.
The far best version of the New. It's a shame they don't really play it live any more... :-( Paul's singing is so honest and heart-felt, just amazing!
i noticed that, OLTA is a good solid effort but my least favourite interpol album. i dont know if the bass on that album is part of a new direction or whether he was just a little short of ideas
les claypool, victor wooten, flea, geddy lee, guy from rancid. i can think of a lot more. dont get me wrong, he's pretty fuckin good. but he's not the BEST around. i'm a bass player myself and he's got some pretty really good lines, but its nothing that's over the top amazing.
as for OLTA. i think that he's putting less effort in the band nowadays. seems like he doesnt wanna be there sometimes. u notice these shows compared to their new shows, carlos is showing less emotion.
you place all of those bass (although great talent)players in line and only carlos d. has that iconic prescence that most bass players just dont have. another awesome bass player is twiggy ramirez.

carlos is better than all of them. i think you missed the point i was making, any good bassist can play a rancid bassline (not to take anything away from him) but who else can write a bassline as unique as carlos?
flea is very talented, but chili pepper's are shite..balances itself out
i think you need to take a more laid back approach -
yes i said rhcp are shite (because i genuinely think that), and like you said..it is only my opinion. and i think im perfectly entitled to state my opinions in a non offensive manner on the internet. no need to take my post out of context as being argumentative, when it was part of a discussion.
Trust me, I'm not 'not being laid back' lol. I mean come on we both love what this video is..
And yes, you're totally entitled to your opinion, but there are better words than shit. I think you need to understand that I don't agree with you, but also I didn't agree with getdeported. I was just trying to point out that it is near impossible for JUST you two to decide who's the best bassist, and also it shouldn't matter who'd better, but to listen to what you like.....
It's the subtlety of the bass and the simplistic nature of the songs the elevates Interpol above the "rock" genre, that and the immensely poetic lyrics that don't give you that synthetic feel other "rock" lyrics...ya know like the " ooooooh y-y-y-yeah, I---- know (bla bla bla)" those words are trite, vexing, and have turned rock into something bland and vomit inducing, honestly
Interpol is fresh, still, and discernable amongst all that bullshit
@carlo88moe That is such a douchey comment. Honestly, there is nothing wrong with Rock music... Ever heard the tragically hip? Sam Roberts, The trews, Rush, ac/dc.... Interpol is good but honestly that comment was pretentious as all hell.
@xxxapolloxxx and its not pretentious to start naming bands like a pedantic cunt? id rather be pretentious than as fatuous and just fucking stupid like those blathering on how "rock is still alive guys, i listen to bands like guns and roses and ACDC"...seriously,doesnt get more self congratulatory than that, so fine go listen to ur "rock and rock on MAYNE!"...btw,all the bands you named are well past their exploration date, whats left is a trail of post grunge shite bands trying to mimic them
@carlo88moe Obviously I listen to other music too... hence why I'm at an interpol page. I'm just saying its douchey to say that interpol is "above" rock music... if there was no rock music, there would be no interpol. Simple as that.
@xxxapolloxxx expiration* date...heroes of the past are sad, forlorn things to look at today...theyre pretty useless today because what made them great is that they were able to tap into the ethos of their time, which always changes, so really every bands worth expires, the bands you mentioned well exhausted theirs yrs ago and are irrelevant..oh,also, fuck you, might as well include that, proper invective isn't complete without it,u daft prog-rock douche...
