translation from ishtarum reads: The Albedo is not only the ability of a body or substance to reflect light, in this case, the 0.39 is the percentage of refraction of solar light from the planet earth, it is also the second phase of the Renaissance alchemist from the obscurity of meaning, the second night of the mystics, where it receives the Donum Dei, the grace, the fire of inspiration, whiteness, brightness of otherness, which paves the way Superman.
@schymcgee the capacity expressed in a certain percentage of a non luminous object or body of reflecting on its surface the light from a source, i.e. the sun.
Albedo is the reflection coefficient for diffuse surfaces. it's value lies betwween 0 and 1.
0 means that the entire light is reflected on the surface and 1 means no light is reflected.
Earth has an Albedo-Value of about 0.39, the albedo on the moon is about 0.12 (and that is why the astronaut could stay in the shadow of the moon landing modul and seems to be lighted by a floodlight)
@1978RSH - Ooops, don't tell too many people, but you got that back to front. 1 is perfect reflectivity and 0 is complete darkness. I hope you haven't become too attached to your gold star :)
Not what you're looking for, but it's also the name the alchemists gave to the White phase of the Great Work ;-). On the way to the final stage, Rubedo.
I bought the record album when it first came out, (still have it). I got hooked on it and bought anything composed by this Mystro of Electronic Music, Vangelis.
I have had this album since...well since it was an actual ALBUM! Good work! Thanks for sharing and re-exposing to public to some great almost forgotten work.

in 100-200-300 years time from now THIS music will be known as classical music. Like Mozart and Bach are to us now.
Vangelis and JM Jarre = classic composers.
