There have been countless thousands of people, including atheists, who have clinically died, then been revived. Because of this we have thousands of first hand eye witness accounts the tell us what they encountered in the afterlife, and that includes God. A physicalist view of reality fails to account for immaterial things, forms, and laws.

The question of whether abstract ideas phisically exist is a matter of ontology and a complicated question. Atheism simply refers to denying the existence of a deity. And no, there`s no need for a deity in order to have abstract ideas.
