  • because building a home with "the right amount of leakage" introduces unconditioned fresh air. HRV/ERVs conserve the energy normally lost, via infiltration, by transferring the heat to the incoming fresh air in the winter and helps cool your house in the summer. basically they allow you to conserve energy while still getting fresh air.

  • why would you not just build the home with the right amount of leakage in the first place and not waste the money for installation, maint., and electricity? compensating for over building?
