This guy has a right to call himself a football player. Guys fill me out!!!! "He is a Cowboys, he is COOLER, not a punter pussy, he is DAVID ________"
he needs to focuz on kick off's instead of field goals... he was so focused on trying to hit a field this past sunday that he didnt even get one touchback!!!
This kid is special and did a hell of a job for the cowboys touchbacks galore he can play other positions he out ran a cb in training camp GO Cowboys!!!
unbelievable leg! one of the best at the kickoff 'hurdle' follow-through. he really throws his weight aggressively and gets incredible pop on his kickoffs. now the cowboys kickoff specialist.
Linebacke? that's a shock! This guy is gonna make an excellent FG kicker this year for the Dallas Cowboys and will continue to be as good on kickoffs, if not better!
@MrxSnowman and fullback! he is the NFL's fastest kicker right now and strongest one of the youngest has one of ( in my mind the best) boots in the NFL. basically the best athlete the world has to offer playing the kicker postion 25 reps!
1.2 that is the amt of secs that is expected to get off a field goal. From snap to kick. It takes about .5 secs for snap to reach holder. Your telling me it takes you
.7 secs to take a good approach for a great kick. no way. NFL has got players who run 4.2 40s and they just have to run 10 yards untouched to get you. You better start learning to go as soon as the snap happens.
At the NFL level sure, at the college level sure, but at the high school level (where I'm at) if I were to start my approach at the snap, the holder wouldn't have enough time.
Dallas haters laugh at the pick. But i'm sure EVERY team in the NFL would love a kicker that kicks touch-backs on 50% of his kickoffs. Not only does the dude kick touchbacks, but he came to USC as a safty. The dude is an extra man on kickoffs that can make a tackle, unlike 99% of kickers.
Laugh away haters, while this guy is kicking balls over your players heads.
I wanted to laugh when the Cowboys drafted him (keep in mind that I like to make fun of kickers, including my own team's kickers)...until I was reminded of his Combine workout (which I saw on NFL Network in February, but totally forgot his name because he was a kicker). I do not want him to come at Folk's expense, because before we got Folk, we had FG kicking issues dating at LEAST as far back as Cundiff (and don't even get me started on that bust, Vanderchode)!
but y waste a roster spot on another K, those r very important spots and either he stays and takes folks spot and we trade folk or hes on the practice squad, i dnt c us hav 2 Kickers, although this guy has the strongest leg
of course they are and that was our problem on kickoffs, Folk didnt hav 1 touchback and a few went out of bounds i think it was 5..but remember nfl kicks from the 30 not the 35 but since he kicks them outv the end zone in college theyll be close to the goaline if not then in the endzone, interesting pick and we'll c what happens
Haha I know he choked on some FG's against Cal this last year however Folk is a pro bowl kicker and pretty damn clutch. Dallas improved its special teams today big time! 55% touchbacks good god! So glad Bruce Reed is gone! :)
yeah he may not have but how many kickers do? and doesnt matter, folk is by far a better kicker. esp at field goals. dudes a sharpshooter when it comes to that. but oh well, if he gets hurt they have depth. i dont know much about McGee but i just hope he's better than fuckin Kitna, b/c he sucks shit!
Just imagine a kicker on steroids, hahaha its like barry bonds kicking a homerun

Positives - Incredibly strong leg. Will be great asset for any NFL team in KOs
Negatives - takes to much time in field goal. His first step is not until the holder has caught the ball. Will lead to many blocked kicks
Overall will be a great KO specialist but will have to work on speeding up his get-off time
kicker1063 2 years ago
Everything I've ever learned said to wait until the holder touched the ball to kick it.

Toucbacks are very important to any defense. This will instantly improve the cowboys D. Well worth the pick.

They'll use Buehler for the kickoffs at the very least. I don't think Folk had one touchback all year.

Yeah that's what I'm saying - he'll be used on the kickoffs.
McGee is a great competitor and an okay arm, very quick feet, and great awareness. He'll be a strong backup, nothing more though.
